Production Engineer Brazing, TIG Welding & Assembly

Job Purpose :

To plan, coordinate, and supervise high-volume sheet metal production involving brazing, TIG welding, and mechanical assembly, ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining quality, safety, cost, and delivery objectives.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and monitor daily production activities for brazing, TIG welding, and assembly operations.
- Ensure achievement of production targets with optimum utilization of manpower, machines, materials, and resources.
- Monitor line balancing, cycle time, machine capacity, and productivity to maximize operational efficiency.
- Supervise shop floor personnel and ensure compliance with SOPs, work instructions, and safety guidelines.
- Ensure brazing, TIG welding, and assembly processes meet specified quality standards and process parameters.
- Conduct first-piece approval, in-process inspections, and corrective actions to minimize rejection and rework.
- Analyze production bottlenecks, downtime, and process issues, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate with Planning, Quality, Maintenance, Tool Room, and Stores to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Ensure availability of tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, welding consumables, and production materials.
- Prepare and review daily production, rejection, downtime, and productivity reports.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives including 5S, Kaizen, waste elimination, cycle time reduction,



and continuous improvement.
- Support new product introduction (NPI), process validation, and production trials.
- Train and mentor operators on process standards, quality requirements, and secure work practices.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality systems, and EHS requirements.

Qualifications

- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience

- 25 years of relevant experience in high-volume sheet metal manufacturing with hands-on exposure to brazing, TIG welding, and mechanical assembly.
- Experience in production planning, manpower management, line balancing, quality control, and continuous improvement is preferred.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and TPM practices will be an added advantage.

Technical Skills

- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, brazing, TIG welding, and mechanical assembly processes.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, welding symbols, BOMs, and work instructions.
- Understanding of production planning, line balancing, capacity utilization, and shop floor control.
- Knowledge of quality tools such as 7 QC Tools, 5 Why Analysis, Fishbone Diagram, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts including 5S, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, and TPM.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
