Job Title: Automobile Technician
Faculty: Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (Automotive Technology)
Brief Job Profile:
The Automotive Technician will be responsible for enhancing hand-on training capabilities and will involve in assisting the student trainings along with Trainers /Teachers. Will be responsible for maintaining all the vehicles and equipment. Along with this the person will also be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and protected functioning of the Universitys vehicles including buses, cars, Gen-set engines and other transport/cleaning vehicles. The role ensures that all vehicles are roadworthy, reliable, and compliant with safety standards to support daily university operations.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Maintain vehicles, engines, trainers, tools, and automotive laboratory equipment in proper working condition.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues in vehicles using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Perform servicing, preventive maintenance, repair, of workshop vehicles as well university vehicles.
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards during maintenance and repair activities.
- Conduct routine safety checks of tools, electrical systems, lifts, and machinery.
- Maintain records of service and repair work, including documenting vehicle diagnostics and parts replaced.
- Manage workshop and tools, ensuring their proper use and maintenance.
- Assist trainers/faculty during practical sessions, demonstrations, and assessments.
- Support students in practical learning to enhance hands-on automotive skills.
- Ensure workshop and lab readiness before practical classes.
- Support student projects, fabrication work, and competition vehicles
- Assist in procurement planning for workshop tools, consumables, and equipment.
- Coordinate with team members to ensure efficient workflow in the workshop.
- Stay updated on advancements in automotive technology and repair methods.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
Educational Qualification:
- ITI certification in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institute.
Experience:
- Minimum 07 years of hands-on experience as a technician in vehicle maintenance, repair, and diagnostics.
Key Competencies:
- Strong understanding of vehicle systems, including engines, drivetrain, suspension, brakes, electrical systems, mechatronics systems and wire diagrams.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software for fault identification.
- Familiarity with service manuals and manufacturer guidelines.
- Understanding of workshop safety practices and procedures.
- Experience working with hybrid and electric vehicles is a plus.
- Knowledge of advanced diagnostic tools and maintenance techniques.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information to team members.
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Team-oriented with a proactive approach to learning and improving skills.
- Effective time management and organisational skills.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills.
