1. Commodity Sourcing & Supply Chain Architecture
- Portfolio Ownership: Own the end-to-end strategic sourcing for complete clutch assemblies and sub-components:
- Friction Segment: Friction linings, cushion springs, torsional damper springs, splined hubs.
- Actuation Segment: Stamped clutch covers, heat-treated diaphragm springs, cast iron pressure plates.
- Release & Drive: Release bearings, concentric slave cylinders, forks, and Flywheels (DMF/Rigid).
- Vendor Development: Identify, evaluate, audit, and onboard high-capability suppliers specializing in high-tonnage stamping, specialized foundries/casting, and specialized friction materials.
- Risk Mitigation: Drive dual-sourcing strategies for high-risk single-source components to eliminate plant bottleneck risks.
2. Cost Management, Should-Costing & VA/VE
- Track global raw material price indices (Steel, Cast Iron, Aluminum, copper/friction chemical compounds) to anticipate market movements.
- Conduct rigorous Should-Cost modeling based on material weight, manufacturing processes (blanking, progressive dies, grinding, heat-treatment), and machine cycle times.
- Lead cross-functional Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) projects alongside R&D; and suppliers to optimize component weight and production costs without compromising clutch torque ratings.
- Negotiate Long-Term Agreements (LTAs) with integrated raw material price indexation formulas.
3. Operational Operations, NPD & Quality Compliance
- Oversee early supplier involvement during the New Product Development (NPD) phase to secure rapid prototyping and competitive initial pricing.
- Partner with Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) to ensure vendors successfully clear PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) milestones on time.
- Manage daily purchase orders, schedules, scheduling agreements, and inventory parameters inside SAP (MM Module).
Experience: 7 to 15 years of core experience in Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, or Purchase Management strictly handling clutch, powertrain, or transmission component portfolios within an Automotive.
Technical Process Expertise:
- Advanced knowledge of high-tonnage sheet metal stamping tools, casting metallurgy, precision grinding tolerances, and spring steel heat-treatment profiles.
- Software Tools: Expert user of SAP (MM Module) and advanced data manipulation in MS Excel.
- Quality Standards: Clear operational familiarity with IATF 16949, APQP, and supplier audit procedures.
Qualification
- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Automobile Engineering.,
- MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or Materials Management - Preferred
- Diploma in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering with significant procurement experience may also be considered.
- Qualified certifications such as CIPS, Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) are an added advantage.
