The Head Quality Control is responsible for leading and managing all quality control activities at the Ongole manufacturing facility. The role ensures that raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, packaging materials, and environmental parameters comply with internal specifications, customer requirements, regulatory standards, and applicable food safety systems. The incumbent will drive continuous improvement initiatives, laboratory excellence, compliance, and team development to support business objectives and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Control Management

- Lead and oversee all laboratory and quality control operations at the plant.
- Ensure timely testing and release of raw materials, in-process samples, packaging materials, and finished products.
- Establish and maintain robust quality control systems, procedures, and testing protocols.
- Monitor product quality trends and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Laboratory Operations

- Manage laboratory infrastructure, equipment calibration, validation, and maintenance programs.
- Ensure adherence to approved analytical methods and testing standards.
- Oversee microbiological, chemical, physical, and sensory evaluation programs as applicable.
- Ensure laboratory compliance with internal and external audit requirements.

Regulatory & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with FSSAI, ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, HACCP, GMP, and customer-specific requirements.
- Support regulatory inspections, customer audits, and certification audits.
- Review and approve quality reports,



certificates of analysis, and laboratory documentation.
- Maintain compliance with environmental, health, and safety requirements within the laboratory.

Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement

- Drive quality improvement initiatives to reduce deviations, non-conformities, customer complaints, and product rejections.
- Analyze quality metrics and implement process improvements.
- Lead root cause analysis and CAPA implementation for quality-related issues.
- Promote a culture of quality excellence and continuous improvement across the plant.

Team Leadership

- Lead, mentor, and develop the QC team, including managers, executives, chemists, microbiologists, and technicians.
- Set performance objectives and ensure capability development through training programs.
- Build succession plans and strengthen technical competencies within the department.

Stakeholder Management

- Collaborate closely with Production, QA, R&D;, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams.
- Provide technical support on product quality issues and customer requirements.
- Represent the Quality Control function during management reviews and cross-functional meetings.

Educational Qualifications





- Master's Degree in Chemistry, Food Technology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related discipline.
- Additional certifications in Quality Management Systems, Food Safety, or Laboratory Management will be an advantage.

Experience

- 10 to 15 years of experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, or Laboratory Management within the food, spice, ingredients, nutraceutical, or allied manufacturing industry.
- Minimum 5 years in a leadership role managing plant-level quality control operations.
- Experience handling audits, regulatory compliance, and laboratory accreditation programs.

Required Competencies

- Solid knowledge of analytical chemistry and laboratory management.
- Expertise in food safety and quality management systems.
- Knowledge of FSSC 22000, HACCP, GMP, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong problem-solving, root cause analysis, and CAPA management skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficiency in quality data analysis and laboratory information systems.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Right First Time (RFT) quality performance.
- Reduction in customer complaints and product rejections.
- Laboratory turnaround time for testing and release.
- Audit compliance scores and closure of observations.
- Reduction in quality deviations and non-conformities.
- Team capability development and retention.
- Compliance with food safety and regulatory standards.
