Key Responsibilities

- Oversee and manage export and import shipping operations to and from multiple countries, ensuring compliance with global trade regulations.
- Coordinate with international clients, suppliers, and carriers to facilitate smooth freight forwarding processes.
- Handle documentation for export and import activities, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and shipping manifests.
- Ensure timely booking and scheduling of shipments with shipping lines and freight carriers.
- Monitor and manage end-to-end shipping operations, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
- Provide solutions for logistics challenges, including route optimization and cost-effective transportation strategies.
- Maintain strong relationships with customs authorities and ensure adherence to customs clearance regulations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of all shipping transactions and generate reports as required.

Requirements

- Experience: 1-5 years of proven experience in freight forwarding, with a focus on global export and import operations.
- Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of international shipping processes, documentation, and compliance requirements.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with international clients and stakeholders.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work in midnight shifts (3:30 AM and 6:30 PM) catering to US time zones.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in logistics and supply chain management tools.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple shipments simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in managing shipments for the US market.
- Familiarity with trade regulations and customs procedures for exports/imports.




- Robust understanding of freight pricing and negotiations with shipping lines.

Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

1. Global Trade Compliance

- Knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and compliance standards for countries like the USA and Canada.
- Familiarity with INCOTERMS (International Commercial Terms).

2. Freight Forwarding Expertise

- Proficiency in managing ocean, air, and multimodal freight operations.
- Experience with freight pricing, route optimization, and carrier negotiations.
- Handling documentation like bills of lading, customs invoices, and packing lists.

3. Customs and Border Procedures

- Expertise in customs clearance processes for imports and exports.
- Knowledge of tariffs, duties, and harmonized system (HS) codes.
- Familiarity with Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) for US imports.

4. Shipping and Transport Coordination

- Scheduling shipments, tracking consignments, and ensuring timely delivery.
- Understanding of warehousing and inventory management systems.

5. Documentation Management

- Preparing and verifying export/import documents like
- Commercial invoices
- Certificates of origin
- Letters of credit




- Export declarations (EXIM).

6. Technology Tools

- Experience with logistics software like SAP, Oracle Transportation Management, or Cargo Wise.
- Familiarity with shipment tracking systems and EDI (Electronic Data Interchange).

Soft Skills

1. Communication Skills

- Clear and professional communication with international clients, carriers, and customs authorities.
- Strong negotiation skills for freight rates and service contracts.

2. Problem-Solving

- Ability to resolve delays, discrepancies in documentation, and shipment issues efficiently.

3. Attention to Detail

- Accuracy in preparing and verifying shipping documents and reports.

4. Time Management

- Efficiently handling multiple shipments across different time zones.

5. Adaptability

- Flexibility to work in rotational shifts to cater to global clients.

Additional Skills (Specific to the USA and Canada)

1. Knowledge of USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement)

- Understanding its impact on cross-border trade.

2. Regulatory Familiarity

- Compliance with Transport Canada and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

3. Market Expertise

- Understanding key logistics hubs and trade routes between the USA, Canada, and other countries.

4. Client Relationship Management

- Building and maintaining relationships with international clients and suppliers.
