We are seeking a Production Quality Engineer to ensure consistent, defectfree manufacture of sheetmetal and welded assemblies. The role focuses on inhouse inspection of punching, bending, welding, and powder coating operations, and on conducting vendor audits/inspections with emphasis on welding process control and quality. The ideal candidate combines strong handson inspection skills, welding process knowledge, and practical problemsolving to drive process stability and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Perform daily inprocess and final inspections of inhouse punching, bending, welding, and powder coating operations to verify conformance to drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Develop and follow inspection plans, checklists, and control charts for critical operations.
- Conduct root cause analysis and facilitate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for recurring defects (dimensional, weld defects, coating issues, etc.).
- Monitor process parameters and capability for punching/bending (tooling condition, die clearance, bend radii), welding (parameters, welding sequence, fixtures), and powder coat (pretreatment, film thickness, cure).
- Perform welding-specific inspections: weld visual inspection, dimensional tolerances, joint fit-up, weld size/penetration, porosity, spatter, and compliance to welding procedure specifications (WPS).
- Carry out non-destructive testing (NDT) or coordinate with NDT providers as required (DPI or other methods) for critical welds.
- Plan and execute vendor audits and process inspections with emphasis on supplier welding practices: review WPS/PQR records, welder qualification records, consumables, equipment calibration, fixturing, process controls, and sampling inspection.

Additional Information
- Strong knowledge of welding processes commonly used in sheetmetal manufacturing (MIG,spot welding), welding symbols, and welding codes/standards.
- Practical experience in inspecting punching and bending operations, and powder coating process knowledge (pretreatment, coating thickness, cure parameters).
- Experience with welding procedure specifications (WPS/PQR), welder qualifications, and welding quality acceptance criteria.
- Familiarity with GD amp;T, blueprint reading, and dimensional inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM basics a plus).
- Experience with NDT methods and interpreting NDT reports (visual, dye penetrant) is an advantage.
