Role: Academic & Departmental Leadership

Key Roles & Responsibilities

A. Academic Leadership

- Provide academic leadership and strategic direction to the Department of Psychology.
- Develop and implement the department's annual academic plan in alignment with the institutional vision.
- Ensure effective delivery of the prescribed curriculum and academic calendar.
- Promote innovative, student-centred, and experiential teaching-learning practices.
- Ensure academic discipline and high standards of teaching and learning.
- Review the effectiveness of courses and recommend improvements wherever required.
- Encourage the use of technology and modern teaching methodologies in psychology education.

B. Teaching & Learning

- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate Psychology courses as assigned.
- Prepare and deliver high-quality lectures, tutorials, seminars, and practical sessions.
- Develop course materials, lesson plans, case studies, and experiential learning activities.
- Integrate contemporary developments in psychology into classroom teaching.
- Encourage students to develop critical thinking, communication, research, and analytical skills.
- Conduct internal assessments and ensure timely evaluation of student performance.
- Monitor student attendance and academic progress.

C. Department Administration

- Prepare the department's academic timetable and workload allocation.
- Allocate teaching responsibilities among faculty members.
- Monitor faculty attendance, academic workload, and performance.
- Conduct regular departmental meetings.
- Maintain departmental records and documentation.
- Ensure timely submission of academic reports and institutional data.
- Coordinate with the Principal and other departments on academic and administrative matters.




- Ensure compliance with university and regulatory requirements applicable to the department.

D. Faculty Development & Performance

- Mentor and guide faculty members in teaching, research, and professional development.
- Identify faculty training and development requirements.
- Encourage faculty participation in seminars, conferences, workshops, FDPs, and professional development programmes.
- Conduct periodic reviews of faculty performance.
- Encourage faculty members to pursue higher qualifications and research activities.
- Develop a culture of academic collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

E. Student Development & Mentoring

- Establish a structured student mentoring system within the department.
- Monitor the academic and personal development of students.
- Identify students requiring additional academic support.
- Guide students regarding higher education, careers, internships, and professional opportunities.
- Encourage students to participate in academic competitions, seminars, conferences, and extracurricular activities.
- Promote student clubs and psychology-related activities.
- Encourage students to develop practical exposure through field visits, internships, and community engagement.

F. Psychology Lab & Practical Training

- Ensure effective functioning and development of Psychology laboratories.
- Introduce practical learning opportunities related to psychological assessment and behavioural sciences.
- Ensure proper maintenance and responsible use of psychological testing tools and equipment.




- Develop practical exercises and case-based learning activities.
- Ensure ethical and professional standards are followed during practical training.
- Explore opportunities to strengthen the department with modern psychological assessment and learning resources.

G. Research & Publications

- Promote a strong research culture within the department.
- Encourage faculty and students to undertake research projects.
- Guide students in research methodology and project work.
- Encourage publication of research papers in reputed journals.
- Facilitate faculty participation in national and international conferences.
- Explore research collaborations with universities, hospitals, schools, NGOs, corporates, and mental health organisations.
- Encourage externally funded research and consultancy opportunities wherever appropriate.

H. Industry & Institutional Partnerships

Develop meaningful collaborations with:

- Schools
- Colleges and Universities
- Hospitals
- Mental Health Institutions
- Counselling Centres
- NGOs
- Corporate Organisations
- HR and Employee Wellness Organisations
- Rehabilitation Centres
- Child Development Centres

The objective will be to create opportunities for:

- Student internships
- Field exposure
- Guest lectures
- Industry interaction
- Research collaboration
- Faculty development
- Career opportunities

Qualification & Experience

- Master's Degree in Psychology with relevant specialization.
- Ph.D. in Psychology preferred/required as per applicable university and regulatory norms.
- Relevant teaching and academic leadership experience.
- Experience in managing an academic department preferred.
- Robust record of research, publications, and academic contributions preferred.
- Experience in student mentoring and institutional development will be an advantage.

Pay: ₹70,115.45 - ₹111,200.85 per month
