Skillnet Learning LLP is looking for a proactive and technically inclined Field Engineer to serve as the organization's on-ground representative for industry relations in the assigned region. The role is responsible for building and nurturing relationships with manufacturing companies, identifying skilling and consulting needs, and generating business opportunities in training, consulting, and Industry 4.0 implementation.
This is a field-intensive, client-facing role suited to candidates who enjoy visiting plants, understanding shop-floor challenges, and translating them into actionable business opportunities.
Role Description:-
The Field Engineer – Industry Relations (Manufacturing / Industry 4.0) is a full-time, on-site role based in the Mohali district. This role involves visiting manufacturing facilities, interacting with industry partners, and gathering technical and operational insights related to Industry 4.0 and digital manufacturing. The Field Engineer will support implementation of training solutions, provide basic technical support during field visits, and coordinate with internal teams to align learning programs with actual industry requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting site assessments, documenting field observations, troubleshooting basic issues with deployed solutions,
and maintaining regular communication with industry stakeholders. The role also involves supporting project activities, tracking progress of industry collaborations, and ensuring timely reporting and feedback to the Skillnet Learning team.
Key Responsibilities1. Industry Relations & Business Development
- Identify new business opportunities in manufacturing and industrial sectors for training, consulting, manufacturing solutions, digitalization, and Industry 4.0 services.
- Build and maintain relationships with manufacturing companies (SMEs, mid-sized organizations, and large enterprises) across the assigned region.
- Identify and engage key decision-makers, including Plant Heads, HR/L&D; Heads, Production Heads, and Quality Heads.
- Conduct regular visits to manufacturing plants to understand operational challenges, skill gaps, and technology readiness.
- Represent Skillnet Learning at industry events, trade fairs, cluster meetings, and association forums (CII, FICCI, MSME clusters, Sector Skill Councils, etc.).
2. Opportunity Identification
- Identify and qualify leads for technical training, vocational skilling, behavioural training, and leadership development programs.
- Identify consulting opportunities related to productivity improvement, lean manufacturing, quality systems, and competency mapping.
- Identify Industry 4.0 implementation opportunities, including automation, IoT adoption, shop-floor digitalization, and smart manufacturing readiness assessments.
- Conduct Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and skill-gap assessments at client locations.
3. Solution Positioning & Proposal Support
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and delivery teams to develop customized client proposals.
- Support solution scoping, pricing discussions, and proposal preparation for training and consulting assignments.
- Coordinate site visits and assessments for Industry 4.0 readiness studies.

Relationship Management & Account Growth
- Maintain and grow existing client accounts to drive repeat business and referrals.
- Track industry trends, government skilling initiatives (Skill India, NSDC, Sector Skill Councils), and competitor activities.
- Maintain accurate CRM records of leads, opportunities, client visits, and interactions.
5. Reporting & Coordination
- Submit regular reports on client visits, sales pipeline, opportunities, and conversions to the reporting manager.
- Support coordination of regional training programs, including venue arrangements and batch scheduling.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Production, Industrial, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related disciplines) preferred.
- MBA will be an added advantage.
- 0–2 years of experience; freshers with solid technical aptitude and interest in industry engagement and business development are encouraged to apply.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and quality systems (5S, Lean, Six Sigma fundamentals).
- Awareness of Industry 4.0 concepts such as IoT, Automation, Digital Manufacturing, and Smart Factory technologies is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong consultative and customer-centric approach.
- Self-driven, target-oriented, and comfortable in a field-based role.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region.
- Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with CRM tools is an advantage.
- Fluency in English and Hindi; knowledge of the local regional language is preferred.
