Career Area Engineering Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc When you join Caterpillar you re joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do - but also about each other We are the makers problem solvers and future world builders who are creating stronger more sustainable communities We don t just talk about progress and innovation here - we make it happen with our customers where we work and live Together we are building a better world so we can all enjoy living in it The Proposal Engineer - Mechanical will be a key role in preparing the techno-commercially viable proposals for Gensets and Balance of plants for complete installation This position involves performing mechanical design calculations preparing layouts and ensuring compliance with technical standards and project requirements The engineer will collaborate closely with the sales and applications teams to develop optimized technical solutions for customer projects Key Responsibilities Perform mechanical design and calculations for air flow pressure drop and ventilation systems Calculate air volume resistance flow rate air water and noise levels for generator and plant installations Design ventilation and fuel flow systems integrating automation where required Prepare and review mechanical drawings ensuring accuracy and alignment with client requirements Work with design software such as AutoCAD Revit and BIM tools for 2D 3D modelling Ensure compliance with PCB norms and CCOE PESO standards applicable to mechanical systems Support proposal documentation by providing technical inputs datasheets and equipment specifications Coordinate with electrical and control teams for multidisciplinary system integration Participate in technical clarifications and support the sales team during bid evaluations Required Skills Knowledge Strong understanding of HVAC and ventilation design principles Ability to perform mechanical flow and noise calculations Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit BIM software Familiarity with mechanical norms and statutory compliance PCB PESO CCOE Good analytical and documentation skills Ability to read interpret and prepare technical drawings and layouts Qualifications Experience Education Bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent Experience 8-10 years of experience in mechanical proposal design or application engineering preferably in power generation or industrial systems Behavioral Competencies Detail-oriented and structured approach to engineering work Solid communication and coordination skills Team player with the ability to manage multiple proposals under tight deadlines Commitment to quality compliance and customer satisfaction Additional information This job required 5days working from office Posting Dates November 18 2025 - December 1 2025 Caterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer Qualified applicants of any age are encouraged to apply Not ready to apply Join our
