Role Summary The Application Support Specialist – IBM WebSphere Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and support of IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) environments that host mission-critical enterprise applications. The role focuses on ensuring high availability, performance, security, and stability of middleware platforms while providing production support, incident resolution, deployment support, and proactive system optimization. The specialist collaborates with application development, infrastructure, database, security, and operations teams to deliver reliable application services and meet business SLAs.

Minimum Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred: Previous similar experience Key Responsibilities

Administer and support IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) environments across Development, Test, UAT, and Production. Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain WebSphere Application Server and related middleware components. Monitor server health, JVM performance, application availability, and infrastructure utilization.

Deploy, configure,



and troubleshoot enterprise applications (EAR, WAR, and JAR files). Investigate and resolve production incidents, application outages, memory issues, and performance bottlenecks within defined SLAs. Configure and manage WebSphere cells, nodes, clusters, deployment managers, and application servers.

Perform JVM tuning, thread pool optimization, connection pool tuning, and garbage collection analysis. Support application releases, change implementations, and setting validations. Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures for recurring issues.

Configure SSL certificates, security settings, LDAP integration, and user access controls. Support disaster recovery (DR) activities, backup, restoration, and high-availability configurations. Develop automation scripts for routine administration and operational tasks.

Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge articles. Participate in production support and on-call rotations.
