Role & responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize Machine Vision and AOI solutions for manufacturing inspection systems.
- Develop image processing and computer vision algorithms for defect detection, pattern recognition, OCR/OCV, object detection, and dimensional measurement.
- Configure and integrate industrial cameras, lenses, lighting systems, and vision sensors to achieve optimal inspection performance.
- Perform camera calibration, optical setup, and lighting optimization for high-accuracy inspection.
- Develop and maintain vision applications using OpenCV, HALCON, Cognex VisionPro, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar vision frameworks.
- Implement AI/Deep Learning models for automated defect detection and classification.
- Integrate vision systems with PLCs, robotic systems, and manufacturing automation equipment.
- Troubleshoot vision hardware and software issues to improve inspection accuracy and production efficiency.
- Develop inspection recipes and optimize system performance for various manufacturing products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Automation, Mechanical, Electrical, Process, and Manufacturing Engineering.
- Support installation, commissioning, qualification, and maintenance of AOI systems.
- Analyze production data and continuously improve inspection algorithms to reduce false calls and increase detection rates.
- Prepare technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and validation reports.
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related engineering discipline.
- 310 years of hands-on experience in developing and implementing Machine Vision and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) solutions in manufacturing environments.
- Strong expertise in Computer Vision, Image Processing, and AI/Deep Learning-based inspection systems.
- Proficient in vision development tools and libraries such as OpenCV, HALCON, Cognex VisionPro, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
- Hands-on experience with industrial vision hardware, including GigE Vision and Camera Link cameras, camera calibration, optics, lens selection, lighting design, and LED controllers.
- Experience in developing inspection algorithms for defect detection, pattern matching, OCR/OCV, object detection, and dimensional measurement.
- Good understanding of PLC integration, robotics, industrial automation, and machine interfacing.
- Domain expertise in SMT, PCB Assembly, Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS), Semiconductor Manufacturing, or Precision Manufacturing is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and vision-guided automation systems.
- Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills with the ability to optimize inspection accuracy and production throughput.
- Experience in commissioning, validating, and supporting AOI systems in production environments.
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), quality standards, and continuous improvement methodologies is an added advantage.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly with engineering, production, and customer stakeholders.
- Self-driven, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple projects in a rapid-paced manufacturing environment.
