Urban Planner
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and review master planning, land use planning, and urban design proposals for heritage and cultural precincts.
- Integrate heritage conservation principles with urban development, infrastructure planning, tourism, and public realm improvements.
- Coordinate with architects, conservation consultants, landscape architects, engineers, and government authorities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review planning submissions, design proposals, and consultant deliverables to ensure compliance with project objectives and statutory requirements.
- Conduct site assessments, urban analysis, feasibility studies, and planning impact assessments.
- Prepare and review development control guidelines, planning reports, zoning studies, and urban design documentation.
- Liaise with local authorities, heritage committees, planning agencies, and statutory bodies to obtain approvals and clearances.
- Ensure compliance with applicable development regulations, heritage conservation guidelines, and environmental standards.
- Participate in stakeholder consultations, workshops, and public engagement activities.
- Monitor planning milestones and provide recommendations to mitigate planning risks and delays.
- Support value engineering and sustainable urban development initiatives while preserving the site's cultural significance.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary planning activities from concept planning through implementation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Urban Planning, Town Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 815 years of experience in urban planning, with significant exposure to heritage conservation, urban regeneration, or cultural infrastructure projects.
- Experience working in a PMC, multidisciplinary consultancy, government, or international consulting workplace is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Indian planning regulations, Development Control Regulations (DCR), heritage conservation guidelines, and statutory approval processes.
- Membership with the Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI) or other relevant professional bodies is desirable.
