We are looking for an experienced and passionate Technical Lead to guide the design, development, and delivery of e-commerce solutions within a high-volume order-processing domain. You will combine deep hands-on engineering with technical leadership — setting architectural direction, defining API standards, and mentoring a team of developers to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure systems.

Working closely with an enterprise solution architect and cross-functional teams, you will translate business needs into technical requirements, act as the technical advisor for architectural decisions in your domain, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. This is a leadership role for someone who still wants to stay close to the code and the architecture.

This position is part of a long-term staff-augmentation engagement with a strategic global e-commerce client. You will be based on-site at the client's Hyderabad office, working five days a week alongside their engineering teams — the final interview stage includes a client panel — while remaining a full-time MetroMax employee, with our mentorship, community,



and career framework behind you. Candidates must be based in Hyderabad or willing to relocate. Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, and deployment of e-commerce solutions within the order-processing domain.

Work closely with the enterprise solution architect and collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.

Act as a technical advisor, providing guidance on architectural decisions and technical challenges across the domain.

Define OpenAPI specifications and ensure they align with organizational standards.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, staying current with industry trends and best practices.

Support and mentor a team of developers to ensure successful, high-quality project delivery.

Ensure compliance with coding standards, security guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

Champion Agile delivery, CI/CD discipline, and sound DevOps practices across the team.

Required Skills & Experience

10+ years in software development and architecture, with at least 3 years in an e-commerce environment.

Proven technical leadership — leading and mentoring development teams within an Agile framework and delivering complex projects successfully.

Strong backend engineering with PHP and the Laravel framework (Symfony experience is a strong plus).

Microservices and API integrations — deep experience designing distributed systems and defining OpenAPI specifications.

Cloud-native delivery — hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform.

Data and messaging — MySQL and NoSQL databases, Elasticsearch, and message brokers such as RabbitMQ.

CI/CD and DevOps lifecycle — automated build and deployment pipelines (e.g., Bamboo) and familiarity with modern DevOps practices.

Frontend and testing awareness — working knowledge of JavaScript and automated testing frameworks (e.g., Playwright).

Software architecture — strong grasp of architecture principles and design patterns, able to balance modernization, technical debt, and business continuity.





Excellent communication — able to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, in fluent English.

Leadership and ownership — strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Nice-to-Have Skills

- Node.js and broader polyglot backend experience.
- Event streaming and distributed-messaging patterns (Kafka, Google Pub/Sub).
- Experience modernizing legacy applications toward domain-oriented microservices.
- AI-assisted engineering tooling adopted across a team (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code).

Preferred

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.

Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.

Relevant cloud certifications (Google Cloud preferred) are a plus.

Process

Round 1 — HR screening: background, leadership experience, communication, notice period, Hyderabad location or relocation, and working-hours fit (30 minutes).

Round 2 — Technical deep-dive: PHP/Laravel, microservices, API design and OpenAPI, and the cloud-native stack (60–90 minutes).

Round 3 — Architecture and leadership round: a system-design discussion plus scenarios on team leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management (90 minutes).

Round 4 — Client panel interview (including the enterprise solution architect), followed by a final discussion with MetroMax engineering leadership.
