About the Role :

Datagaps' DataOps Suite provides automated validation, data quality, and observability across the modern data stack from source systems through ETL/ELT pipelines into BI and analytics layers. As part of a growing team of BI/Data Product Managers (covering Power BI, ETL/Data validation, and Test Data Management), we are hiring a dedicated Tableau Product Manager to own and elevate our Tableau validation and testing capabilities as a best-in-class offering within the DataOps Suite.

This is a specialist, technically-deep PM role. You will be the internal authority on all things Tableau - its architecture, APIs, extension ecosystem, embedding models, and the failure modes enterprises actually hit in production. You will translate that expertise into product requirements, validation rule libraries, and roadmap decisions that keep Datagaps ahead of the market in Tableau QA and validation.

What You'll Own :

- Product strategy for Tableau support : Define and drive the roadmap for Tableau validation, testing, and observability capabilities within DataOps Suite - dashboard/workbook regression testing, calculated field and data source validation, extract vs. live connection checks, and visual/layout regression.
- Deep Tableau domain expertise : Stay ahead of Tableau's product changes (Tableau Server, Tableau Cloud, Tableau Desktop, Prep, Pulse, extensions/dashboard extensions, embedding APIs, REST/Metadata APIs) and translate them into validation requirements.
- Connector & integration roadmap :



Work with engineering to prioritize and scope Tableau-specific connectors, authentication flows (SAML/AAD/SSO), and embedding scenarios (iframe, JS API), including diagnosing and preventing recurring production issues (e.g., extension conflicts, iframe blocking under SSO).
- Competitive & market positioning : Track how competitors (e.g., ICEDQ, QuerySurge, or BI-specific testing tools) handle Tableau validation and identify differentiation opportunities.
- Cross-functional collaboration : Partner with the ETL/Data PM (upstream data validation), Power BI PM (cross-BI-tool parity and differentiation), and Test Data Management PM (test data provisioning for Tableau test environments) to ensure Tableau capabilities are consistent with the broader DataOps Suite vision.
- Customer & field engagement : Work directly with enterprise customers and the TAM/CS team to gather Tableau-specific pain points, validate use cases, and prioritize backlog items based on real deployment issues (performance, embedding, governance, migration).
- Requirements & specs : Write detailed PRDs/specs for Tableau validation rule packs, dashboard comparison logic, and reporting/observability dashboards specific to Tableau environments.
- Enablement : Support sales engineering, marketing, and customer success with Tableau-specific positioning, demos,



and technical collateral.

What You Bring :

- 7-10 years of overall experience, with at least 3-4 years of hands-on Tableau expertise - Tableau Desktop, Server/Cloud administration, Tableau Prep, calculated fields, LOD expressions, extracts vs. live connections, and the extension/embedding ecosystem.
- Practical experience with Tableau's REST API and/or Metadata API; familiarity with dashboard embedding challenges (SSO/SAML, iframe restrictions, extension conflicts) is a strong plus.
- Prior product management experience (or strong product-adjacent experience as a BI architect/lead who has driven roadmap decisions) - ideally in a data quality, testing, BI, or analytics tooling company.
- Working knowledge of the broader BI/analytics landscape (Power BI, Looker, Qlik) to reason about parity and differentiation.
- Understanding of enterprise data pipelines - how Tableau sits downstream of ETL/ELT and data warehouses (Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, etc.) - enough to collaborate meaningfully with the ETL/Data PM.
- Solid ability to translate technical/architectural nuance into crisp requirements, rule specifications, and prioritized backlogs.
- Excellent stakeholder management - comfortable working with engineering, customer success, sales, and enterprise customers directly.
- Bonus : exposure to data governance/observability concepts (lineage, cataloging) and to enterprise identity/access setups (Azure AD/Entra, SAML) as they intersect with Tableau deployments.
