: Roles & Responsibilities: Storage Provisioning : Creating and allocating storage volumes (LUNs, shares, etc.)
Thin/thick provisioning Zoning and masking (SAN) File system setup (NFS, SMB,
iSCSI).
Storage Installation & Configuration : Initial setup of storage arrays (NetApp, Pure
Storage, Dell EMC, etc.) RAID configuration Storage controller configuration
Firmware/OS upgrades.
Storage Monitoring & Performance Management : IOPS, throughput, and latency monitoring Bottleneck analysis and tuning Storage health monitoring (alerts,
thresholds) Capacity forecasting and reporting.
Backup & Recovery Integration Snapshot management Integration with backup software (Commvault, Veeam, Rubrik) Replication setup (local/remote) Restore testing and verification
Data Migration Migrating data between arrays or to the cloud LUN and volume migration Minimizing downtime during migration Validation and data integrity checks.
Storage Security Access control and permissions Data encryption at rest and in transit Secure multi-tenancy Compliance configuration (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.)
High Availability & Disaster Recovery Configuring replication and failover DR planning and testing Clustered storage systems Geo-redundancy setup.
Tiered & Archival Storage Management Data lifecycle policies (hot, warm, cold)
Archiving and retrieval setup Integration with object storage (S3, Azure Blob)
Virtualization & Cloud Storage Support Storage integration with VMware, Hyper-V, or
Nutanix vSAN or Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) support Cloud storage provisioning and management (AWS EBS, Azure Disks)
Troubleshooting & Incident Response Identifying and resolving storage issues
Hardware replacement and disk failure handling Storage connectivity issues (SAN/NAS) Log analysis and escalation support.
