Job Summary
WJCF is seeking a highly motivated, entrepreneurial professional with strong credentials and exceptional stakeholder-management skills for the role of State Engagement Lead for the Type 1 Diabetes Program.
The State Engagement Lead will drive on-ground program implementation to strengthen the delivery of Type 1 Diabetes services across public health facilities. The role requires developing a comprehensive understanding of the state's public health system, governance structures, policy landscape, and barriers to care. They will play a pivotal role in designing and operationalizing program interventions, shaping the implementation model, supporting day-to-day program operations, and facilitating effective stakeholder engagement to ensure high-quality and sustainable care delivery.
The ideal candidate should have exceptional interpersonal skills, be able to work independently, be flexible, be comfortable working and supporting operations across cross-functional teams and have a solid commitment to excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead WJCF and its T1D program with state government stakeholders, and secure necessary government alignment on ongoing intervention support and proposed new initiatives.
- Build and maintain trust-based relationships with senior officials in the Department of Health, NHM, and State Health Corporation, and expedite approvals required to drive program momentum.
- Support the government in budgeting and planning through NHM and the State Health Corporation to ensure sustained access to essential drugs, diagnostics, and commodities for T1D management.
- In collaboration with the Program Manager (NCDs), develop the program strategy and implementation plan for the state, and scope allied areas of intervention within the broader NCD portfolio.
- Lead day-to-day program implementation at the state level including planning, sequencing, and on-ground roll-out of programmatic activities in coordination with the state program team and field staff.
- Support district-level roll-out and monitoring by working with the state program team and field staff to engage district administrators, health officials, and facility-level stakeholders.
- Strengthen the capacity of state and district health staff to deliver T1D services through training, mentoring, and on-site support, in coordination with program technical leads.
- Represent WJCF in relevant state-level technical working groups, review meetings, and forums on NCDs and T1D.
- Coordinate with other development partners active in the state to align activities, share learnings, and leverage complementary resources and geographic reach toward strengthening T1D access.
- Identify programmatic, operational, and political risks to implementation, and work with program leadership to design and execute mitigation plans that protect program continuity and sustainability.
- Support the design and operation of systems for collecting, managing, and reviewing programmatic data, and use results to monitor progress and inform strategy.
- Develop compelling presentations, progress narratives, update notes, and reports for internal and external stakeholders, and travel within the state as required to support implementation.
