The SCM & Warehouse Head will lead end-to-end supply chain operations across multiple warehouse locations, encompassing procurement, vendor management, inventory control, warehousing, and transportation/logistics. The role is responsible for network-wide efficiency, cost optimization, statutory compliance, and seamless coordination between plants, warehouses, and distribution points.

Key Responsibilities

1.

Supply Chain

Planning & Strategy

Develop and execute supply chain strategy aligned with business goals

Forecast demand and plan procurement/inventory accordingly

Design and optimize the supply chain network — warehouse locations, hub-and-spoke models, and distribution routes

Lead cost reduction initiatives across procurement, storage, and transportation

Procurement

Management

Develop procurement strategy and annual purchase plans for raw materials, packaging, MRO, and indirect materials

Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers/vendors; conduct vendor audits and capability assessments

Lead sourcing negotiations (cost, credit terms, SLAs) and finalize contracts/rate agreements

Drive category-wise cost optimization and value engineering initiatives

Ensure timely procurement to avoid production/dispatch delays

Monitor purchase order (PO) cycle, GRN, and vendor payment coordination with Finance

Implement procurement policies, approval matrices, and risk mitigation (dual sourcing, buffer stock for critical items)

Vendor

Management

Build and maintain a structured vendor database across categories (raw material, transport, warehousing services, packaging, etc.)

Develop vendor evaluation/scorecards based on quality, cost, delivery, and compliance (QCDC)

Conduct periodic vendor performance reviews and business review meetings (QBRs)

Manage vendor contracts, SLAs, renewals, and escalations

Develop alternate/backup vendors to mitigate supply risk

Drive vendor development programs to improve quality and reduce lead time

Ensure vendor compliance with statutory, safety, and quality standards

- Multi-Warehouse Operations Management

Oversee operations across multiple warehouses/DCs, ensuring standardized processes (SOPs) network-wide





Ensure optimal space utilization, layout design, and capacity planning at each location

Implement and manage WMS across all warehouse locations with real-time visibility

Monitor and benchmark inventory accuracy, productivity, and cost metrics across all sites

Standardize receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and dispatch processes across locations

Plan warehouse manpower, equipment (MHE), and infrastructure requirements per location

Coordinate stock transfers and inventory rebalancing between warehouses

Ensure FIFO/FEFO compliance and quality checks at every location

Lead new warehouse setup/expansion projects, including site selection, layout, and go-live

- Transport & Logistics Management

Plan and manage inbound (vendor-to-warehouse) and outbound (warehouse-to-customer/plant) transportation

Design optimal transport routes and modes (FTL/LTL, rail, multi-modal) to minimize cost and transit time

Manage fleet/3PL transporter relationships; negotiate freight rates and contracts

Monitor and ensure OTIF (On-Time-In-Full) delivery performance across the network

Implement transport tracking (GPS/TMS) for real-time visibility and exception management

Optimize freight costs through load consolidation, route planning, and backhaul utilization

Ensure compliance with transport documentation (e-way bills, GST, permits, insurance)

Manage last-mile delivery efficiency and customer delivery SLAs

Handle transit damage/loss claims and insurance coordination

- Inventory & Materials Management

Set inventory norms (min/max, safety stock, reorder points) per warehouse/SKU

Reduce overall network inventory carrying cost while preventing stockouts

Manage slow-moving, non-moving, and obsolete (SLOB) inventory across locations

Conduct regular cycle counts, physical audits,



and reconcile discrepancies

- Team Leadership

Lead warehouse managers, procurement executives, and logistics teams across multiple sites

Set KPIs/performance metrics per location and function

Build a culture of safety, discipline, ownership, and continuous improvement

Conduct training programs for warehouse and logistics staff

- Compliance & Safety

Ensure statutory compliance across all locations (labor laws, fire/safety norms, GST, customs, warehousing licenses)

Implement 5S, Kaizen, and operational excellence practices network-wide

Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations

- Systems & Reporting

Drive ERP/WMS/TMS implementation and utilization across all warehouses (SAP, Oracle, or similar)

Consolidate MIS reports: procurement savings, vendor performance, inventory accuracy, warehouse productivity, freight cost %, OTIF

Present network-wide performance dashboards to senior management

Stakeholder

Management

Coordinate cross-functionally with Production, Sales, Finance, and Quality

Act as single point of accountability for supply chain performance across all locations

Key Requirements Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business Administration

MBA/PGDM in Operations/Supply Chain Management preferred Experience

10–15+ years in SCM, procurement, warehousing, and logistics, including multi-location/multi-warehouse management experience

Minimum 6+ years in a senior leadership role managing cross-functional and geographically distributed teams Skills

Strong expertise in procurement, vendor management, inventory control, warehousing, and transportation

Hands-on experience with ERP/WMS/TMS (SAP, Oracle, or similar) across multi-site operations

Robust negotiation skills (vendor contracts, freight rates, service agreements)

Proficiency in Excel/data analysis; BI tools (Power BI/Tableau) a plus

Strong leadership skills to manage distributed teams across locations

Working knowledge of statutory/regulatory compliance (GST, e-way bills, labor laws, warehousing/customs regulations)
