Job Title: Senior Engineer / Asst. Manager - Procurement (Tooling & Raw Materials)

Department: Purchase / Supply Chain Management

Job Purpose To manage the procurement of raw materials, tooling, and subcontract services for fastener manufacturing operations while ensuring cost competitiveness, quality compliance, and uninterrupted supply to meet production and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Raw Material Procurement

- Manage sourcing and procurement of steel wire rods, alloy steels, stainless steel grades, and other raw materials used in fastener manufacturing.
- Coordinate with suppliers for material availability, pricing, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor commodity trends and develop sourcing strategies to optimize costs.
- Ensure inventory control and uninterrupted material supply to production.

Tooling Procurement

- Handle procurement of heading dies, trimming dies, thread rolling dies, punches, inserts, carbide tools, gauges, fixtures, and special tooling.
- Coordinate with tooling suppliers for new developments and replacement requirements.
- Support localization and cost reduction initiatives for tooling.

Vendor Development & Management

- Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers for raw materials, tooling, heat treatment, plating, and subcontract operations.
- Conduct supplier performance reviews covering Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Service.
- Lead commercial negotiations and contract finalization.

Subcontract Process Management

- Manage suppliers involved in heat treatment, zinc plating, phosphating, coating, and other secondary processes.




- Coordinate with Quality and Engineering teams to ensure process compliance and customer requirements.
- Monitor supplier capacities and business continuity plans.

Cost Management

- Drive annual cost reduction and productivity improvement projects.
- Implement alternate sourcing and value engineering initiatives.
- Analyze spend data and identify procurement optimization opportunities.

Cross-Functional Coordination

- Work closely with Production, Tool Room, Quality, Engineering, Finance, and Supplier Development teams.
- Support new product development and customer project requirements.
- Ensure timely closure of supplier-related issues.

System & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with procurement policies and audit requirements.
- Manage procurement activities through SAP (MM Module).
- Maintain supplier contracts, agreements, and procurement documentation.

Educational Qualification

- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Manufacturing, or Automobile Engineering.
- MBA in Supply Chain Management or Operations Management is preferred.

Required Skills

- Robust knowledge of fastener manufacturing processes, including:
- Cold Forging
- Thread Rolling
- Heat Treatment
- Surface Finishing / Plating
- Secondary Operations

- Experience in raw material sourcing and tooling procurement.
- Vendor development and supplier relationship management.
- Commercial negotiation and contract management.
- SAP MM and MS Office proficiency.
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Candidate Profile

- 8-10 years of experience in Procurement within the Fastener or Automotive Component industry.
- Exposure to OEM, Tier-1, or export-oriented manufacturing environments.
- Proven experience in handling raw material, tooling, and subcontract process procurement independently
