As part of our growing backend and infrastructure team, we are looking for a Senior Database Engineer who will work across one or more client projects to ensure database systems are scalable, secure, and highly performant. As a Senior Database Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, optimizing, and managing high-performance database infrastructure, primarily supporting client projects. This role requires deep hands-on expertise in PostgreSQL and a strong foundation in database architecture and performance tuning.

Experience with MySQL is a plus. You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and DevOps teams to ensure database reliability, scalability, security, and compliance across client engagements.

Key Responsibilities

Must Have

- 5+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL in production environments.
- Strong experience in database design and architecture.
- Expertise in query performance tuning and execution plan analysis.
- Hands-on experience with:

- Index design and optimization

- Table partitioning strategies

- Large dataset performance optimization
- Experience with database upgrades, migrations, and cross-version transitions.
- Strong understanding of replication, high availability, and failover strategies.
- Experience implementing backup and recovery solutions.




- Ability to troubleshoot complex database performance issues.
- Experience using PostgreSQL monitoring tools such as pg_stat_statements and pgBadger.
- Experience writing automation scripts (Bash, Python, or similar) for database operations.
- Strong understanding of data integrity, access control, and database security.
- Ability to document database architecture, schemas, and operational procedures.
- Capacity planning and scaling strategy for PostgreSQL databases.

Good to Have:

- Experience with MySQL in addition to PostgreSQL.
- Experience with database partitioning and sharding strategies for large-scale systems.
- Experience designing multi-tenant database architectures.
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Recent Relic.
- Experience with cloud database platforms such as AWS RDS/Aurora or GCP Cloud SQL.
- Experience integrating database deployments into CI/CD pipelines using tools like Flyway or Liquibase.
- Experience working in client-facing or consulting environments.
- Experience collaborating closely with DevOps and backend engineering teams.

Nive to Have:

- PostgreSQL or cloud-related professional certifications.
- Knowledge of data compliance standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, or SOC2.
- Experience mentoring junior database engineers or developers.
- Experience building database observability dashboards and long-term performance analytics.
- Experience with large-scale data migration projects (multi-terabyte databases).
