Role Summary We are seeking a seasoned SAP HCM Sr. Payroll Consultant to support complex payroll testing across configuration, customization, automation, and business validation activities. The role requires deep hands-on expertise in SAP HCM Payroll, with Canada payroll experience preferred, strong problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to work effectively across functional, technical, and business teams to help ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the planning and execution of comprehensive test strategies for SAP HCM Payroll, including schema configurations, custom Personnel Calculation Rules (PCRs), retroactive accounting, wage type processing, and custom ABAP reports and objects.
- Develop and execute robust functional test scenarios for payroll processing, including regular and off-cycle payroll, gross-to-net validation, statutory deductions, garnishments, payroll posting, and payroll rule/schema changes.
- Validate payroll outcomes against business requirements, country-specific compliance obligations, and collective agreement–driven calculation logic
- Own regression testing for payroll processes impacted by configuration or development changes, ensuring the continued integrity of existing rules, interfaces, and reports across payroll cycles.
- Design, build,



and maintain automated test scripts using TOSCA or equivalent SAP testing tools to improve testing efficiency and accelerate regression cycles.
- Manage the defect lifecycle, including issue logging, triage, coordination of fixes, retesting, and closure in collaboration with functional and development teams.
- Prepare and maintain test data sets for complex payroll scenarios, including retroactive adjustments, multiple payroll areas, employee groups, wage type combinations, statutory variations,.
- Support System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), ensuring disciplined execution, stakeholder coordination, and timely sign-off.
- Maintain high-quality testing documentation, including test scripts, execution evidence, defect logs, and traceability matrices linked to business and technical requirements.
- Partner with payroll, HR, finance, and technical stakeholders to validate outputs, investigate variances, and support resolution of testing issues, including payroll reconciliation and validation.

Qualifications

Required

- 3–8 years of experience in SAP HCM testing, with a solid focus on Payroll.
- Demonstrated experience testing complex payroll PCRs, schema changes, and payroll rule modifications.




- Experience validating custom ABAP reports and objects within SAP HCM.
- Hands-on experience with SAP test automation tools such as TOSCA or equivalent platforms and JIRA ticketing tool is preferred
- Strong understanding of retroactive payroll processing and associated testing considerations.
- Proven experience supporting SIT and UAT cycles, including defect management and retesting.
- Strong grasp of SAP HCM payroll concepts, including gross-to-net, wage types, payroll control record, off-cycle payroll, and retro accounting.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively across functional, technical, and business teams.

Preferred

- Canada payroll experience, including CPP/QPP, EI/QPIP, income tax, and related employer liability processing, preferred.
- Experience supporting T4/T4A annual reporting and related employee taxes.
- Experience validating Canada-specific payroll reports, year-end outputs, and statutory filings.
- Experience in S/4HANA HCM landscapes.
- Exposure to Fiori/OData testing.
- Experience testing integrations with third-party systems or ServiceNow-type platforms.
- Familiarity with country-specific payroll compliance and statutory reporting requirements.
- Experience testing collective agreement–driven payroll configurations for union and non-union employee groups.
- SAP HCM functional certification.Education
