Role Overview The Safety Specialist role is crucial for ensuring the effective implementation and auditing of the Safety Management System (SMS) elements at a pharmaceutical industry client location. This position is vital for enhancing safety standards and fostering a strong safety culture within the organization.
Key Responsibilities Interpret and facilitate the implementation of client’s safety standards, including PTW/HIRA standards.
Collaborate with the plant team to implement SMS elements effectively.
Provide technical support and guidance for rolling out Safety Culture improvement action plans.
Offer assurance and insights on project progress to client’s leadership.
Guide element champions and taskforce teams in executing SMS element plans, including on-field data collection.
Participate in SMS team meetings to guide and monitor meeting quality.
Work with shopfloor employees to implement SMS standards at the field level.
Conduct field visits and audits to verify the effectiveness of SMS implementation.
Engage in one-on-one discussions with the client’s SMS implementation team to address challenges and provide expertise.
Conduct awareness programs on SMS elements.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety management.
Prepare Safety Technical training modules as needed.
Submit daily progress reports to the Chola MS Risk Project Manager based on planned activities.
Submit monthly MIS reports detailing activities, element progress, and intervention effectiveness to the Project Manager and client.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
Master’s in Industrial Safety or equivalent safety qualification (PDIS or ADIS).
Extensive experience in Safety Management Systems within the pharmaceutical industry.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Proven problem-solving abilities in a safety management context.
Preferred
Qualifications/Good To Have Additional certifications in safety management.
Experience with safety culture improvement initiatives.
Familiarity with KPI monitoring and reporting.
