Job Summary:

The R&D; Chemist will be responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing formulations for skin care, cosmetics, and oral care products. This role requires a strong background in cosmetic chemistry, product development, and laboratory best practices. The ideal candidate will be innovative, detail-oriented, and passionate about creating safe, effective, and marketable products.

Key Responsibilities:

✔Formulate and develop new skin care, cosmetic, and oral care products in alignment with market trends and client needs.

✔Conduct stability testing, compatibility testing, and performance evaluations of formulations.

✔Modify existing formulations to improve efficacy, texture, shelf life, and cost-efficiency.

✔Work closely with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Quality Assurance, Production) to ensure product feasibility and scalability.

✔Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (FDA, ISO, COSMOS, ECOCERT, etc.) and company SOPs.

✔Maintain accurate lab records, batch logs, and technical documentation.

✔Source and evaluate raw materials, actives, and preservatives for safety and performance.

✔Stay updated on industry trends, emerging ingredients, and new technologies.

✔Assist in troubleshooting production-scale challenges related to formulations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Hard Skills:

✔Strong knowledge of cosmetic chemistry, emulsion systems, surfactants,



and rheology modifiers.

✔Experience with formulating skin care (creams, serums, lotions), cosmetics (makeup, colorants), and/or oral care products.

✔Proficiency in lab techniques, analytical testing (pH, viscosity, microbial testing), and instrumentation (HPLC, FTIR, etc.).

✔Familiarity with regulatory requirements (GMP, ISO 22716, INCI labeling).

✔Ability to use formulation software (e.g., Chemist’s Corner, UL Prospector) is a plus.

Soft Skills:

✔Innovative & Problem-Solving Mindset – Ability to troubleshoot formulation challenges.

✔Detail-Oriented – Ensures accuracy in documentation and testing.

✔Collaborative – Works well with marketing, production, and QA teams.

✔Time Management – Handles multiple projects efficiently.

✔Robust Communication – Clearly presents findings and recommendations.

Education:

✔Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.

Preferred Experience:

✔5+ years in R&D; formulation (preferably in skin care, cosmetics, or oral care).

✔Experience in private label manufacturing is highly desirable.

✔Knowledge of natural/organic formulations is a plus.
