Quality Lab Assistant Fabric TestingPosition: Junior Lab Assistant (Fabric & Garment Testing)

Job Purpose Quality Assurance, conducting fabric, trim, and garment testing, maintaining testing records, coordinating with external laboratories, and ensuring that all materials comply with buyer quality standards before bulk production.

Key Responsibilities

1. Fabric Testing

- Conduct in-house sample fabric testing.
- Conduct bulk fabric testing before production approval.
- Perform GSM, width, shrinkage, skewness, spirality, shade variation, and appearance tests.
- Record and maintain all fabric test reports.
- Verify fabric quality against buyer specifications.

- Laboratory Testing Coordination

- Prepare fabric and trim samples for third-party laboratory testing.
- Coordinate with approved testing laboratories.
- Track pending reports and follow up with labs.
- Maintain testing schedules and ensure reports are received on time.

- Trim Testing

- Assist in testing all trims including:
- Buttons, Zippers, Elastic, Laces, Drawcords, Buckles
- Snap buttons, Labels, Care labels, Hangtags

- Check for: Color fastness, Pull strength, Durability, Appearance, Safety compliance

- Button Testing

- Perform in-house button pull testing using button pull tester.
- Coordinate laboratory testing whenever buyer requires certified reports.
- Maintain button testing records.

- Wash Testing

- Conduct Size Set Wash Test.
- Record: Shrinkage %, Twisting, Shape retention, Seam puckering, Appearance after wash, Colour change.
- Compare results with buyer tolerance.

- Wash Care Verification





- Verify wash care instructions according to:
- Fabric composition
- Garment construction
- Buyer requirements

- Coordinate with Merchandising and QA before approval.

- Documentation

- Maintain records of:
- Fabric test reports, Lab reports
- Wash reports, Button test reports
- Trim test reports, Approved standards
- Failed reports, CAPA records

- Ensure proper filing for buyer audits.

- Sample Evaluation

- Assist QA in checking:
- Sample garments, PP Samples, Size Sets, TOP Samples

- Identify visible quality issues before approval.

- Coordination

- Coordinate with:
- Merchandising Team, Fabric Department
- Trims Department, Production, Buying Office
- External Testing Laboratories

- Equipment Maintenance

- Maintain laboratory equipment including:
- GSM Cutter, Electronic Balance, Shrinkage Scale
- Button Pull Tester, Colour Assessment Cabinet
- Washing Machine, Dryer, Measuring Equipment

- Report calibration requirements.

- Compliance

- Follow buyer standards such as:
- CPSIA, REACH, OEKO-TEX, ASTM, EN Standards, Company SOPs

Skills Required

- Basic knowledge of woven fabrics
- Understanding of garment trims
- Basic textile testing knowledge
- Valuable record keeping
- MS Excel, MS Word
- Attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work under deadlines

Educational Qualification Preferred:

- Diploma in Textile Technology
- B.Sc. Textile
- Diploma in Fashion Technology
- Diploma in Apparel Production
- B.Tech Textile (Freshers may apply)

Experience

- Fresher to 2 years Experience in:
- Garment Export House
- Buying House
- Textile Testing Lab
- Fabric Mill QA will be preferred.

Experience: 0-2 years

Salary: 20-22k
