Job Purpose The MEP Site Engineer is responsible for the planning, execution, supervision, coordination, and quality control of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works at the project site. The role ensures that all MEP installations are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, applicable codes, project schedules, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Execution and Supervision
Supervise and monitor day-to-day MEP installation activities at the project site.
Ensure that MEP works are executed as per approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project requirements.
Coordinate with MEP contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and other site teams.
Monitor manpower, materials, tools, and equipment required for MEP works.
Ensure proper sequencing of MEP activities in coordination with civil, structural, and architectural works.
Identify site constraints and resolve technical issues in coordination with the project team.
2.
Mechanical
Works
Supervise installation of HVAC systems, ventilation systems, chilled water piping, ducting, pumps, and related equipment.
Monitor installation of mechanical equipment and ensure proper alignment, supports, and access for maintenance.
Coordinate testing, commissioning, and balancing of HVAC and mechanical systems.
3.
Electrical
Works
Supervise electrical installations including cable trays, conduits, cables, panels, DBs, lighting, power distribution, and earthing systems.
Monitor installation of electrical equipment and ensure compliance with approved shop drawings and specifications.
Coordinate testing and commissioning of electrical systems.
Ensure proper cable routing, termination, labeling, and testing.
- Plumbing and Fire Fighting Works
Supervise installation of water supply, drainage, sewage, stormwater, and other plumbing systems.
Monitor installation of fire-fighting piping, hydrants, sprinkler systems, pumps,
and related equipment.
Ensure proper pressure testing, flushing, and commissioning of plumbing and fire-fighting systems.
- Drawings and Technical Coordination
Review approved MEP drawings, shop drawings, coordination drawings, and specifications.
Ensure site execution is in accordance with the latest approved drawings.
Coordinate MEP services with structural and architectural requirements.
Identify discrepancies between drawings and actual site conditions and raise RFIs/technical queries as required.
Assist in reviewing and resolving MEP clashes and coordination issues.

Quality
Control
Ensure all MEP works comply with approved specifications, applicable standards, and project quality requirements.
Conduct inspections and coordinate with the QA/QC team for inspection requests.
Verify materials and equipment delivered to site against approved material submittals.
Monitor installation quality and ensure rectification of defective or non-conforming work.
Maintain inspection records, test reports, and quality documentation.
- Testing and Commissioning
Coordinate testing and commissioning activities for MEP systems.
Witness testing procedures and verify test results.
Ensure all systems are properly tested, commissioned, and handed over.
Assist in preparation of commissioning records, operation manuals, and as-built documentation.
- Planning and Progress Monitoring
Monitor daily and weekly progress of MEP works against the approved project schedule.
Coordinate with planning and project teams to identify delays and recovery measures.
Prepare daily progress reports and provide updates on site activities.
Support manpower and material planning to achieve project milestones.
- Safety
Ensure MEP activities are carried out in compliance with project HSE requirements.
Coordinate with the Safety Officer/HSE team to identify and control site risks.
Ensure safe working practices for electrical, mechanical, hot work, lifting, and working-at-height activities.
Report unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Documentation and Handover
Maintain records of site inspections, testing, approvals, and progress.
Review and monitor MEP as-built drawings.
Assist in preparing snag lists and ensure timely closure of MEP defects.
Support final inspection, testing, commissioning, and project handover activities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.
Relevant experience in MEP construction and site execution.
Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, firefighting, and building services systems.
Valuable knowledge of MEP drawings, specifications, and construction practices.
Familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements.

Experience
Typically 3–8 years of relevant experience in MEP construction, preferably in commercial buildings, residential developments, industrial projects, hotels, hospitals, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
