Observer Research Foundation (ORF), New Delhi, invites applications for the position of a Programme Assistant within its Technology Vertical. This role supports the vertical's programmatic and convening agenda in various technology-policy areas such as the intersection of technology and geopolitics, international technology partnerships, AI diffusion, digital transformation, biotechnology, quantum technologies, digital public infrastructure, biotechnology and data governance amongst other critical and emerging technology topics.
The Programme Assistant will support the vertical's events and programmatic operations, working closely with the team to ensure smooth planning and execution of convenings, logistics, and team activities.
This is an entry-level position, well suited for candidates at the start of their career in programme and events coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support coordination of events including roundtables, workshops, conferences, and international dialogues, assisting with invitations, registrations, logistics, and communications.
- Support outreach and correspondence with speakers, participants, and other external stakeholders.
- Assist with travel and logistics arrangements for visiting speakers and participants, including ticketing and accommodation support.
- Assist in preparing briefing materials and agendas, and support post-event documentation including notes and minutes, tracking follow-up actions.
- Maintain and update databases of stakeholders, speakers, and partners.
- Support basic expense tracking and documentation related to events and programme activities.
- Assist the communications team with social media updates and outreach related to events and publications.
- Provide administrative support to the team, including scheduling meetings and on-ground event management.
- Support stakeholder and partnership management with vendors, funders and knowledge partners.
- Collaborate with ORF's internal stakeholders such as communications, development, forums and operations teams as needed to ensure programs and events are delivered as planned.
Qualifications:
- Postgraduate degree in public policy, technology policy, engineering, international relations, business administration, economics, or a related discipline. Candidates with an undergraduate degree with additional relevant work experience (in lieu of a post graduate degree) may be considered.
- 0-1 years of professional experience with a Postgraduate degree OR 2-3 years of qualified experience with an Undergraduate degree; internships or academic experience involving event coordination, programme support, or administrative work will be viewed favourably.
- Strong organisational abilities, with proven capacity to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proficiency in tools like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GSuite and Outlook.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- A positive, can-do attitude with the flexibility to take on a range of administrative and programmatic tasks.
- Familiarity with or interest in technology policy is desirable.
