NRole Overview:

NThe department head (HOD)has the sole responsibility of running the academic programs of a department successfully. He/she has to follow the set rules and standards of the University in the delivery of the program. He/she reports to the Dean/ Director of the school. He/she has the following duties and responsibilities.

- To act as the administrative and academic head of the department in executing the teaching and learning aspects of the department.
N
- To take advice/sanctionfrom the dean for implementation of academic, co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
N
- To assign duties to teaching and non-teaching staff of the department in consultation with the dean/director.
N
- To ensure allocation ofworkload (teaching load and practical load) to all faculty members and technical non-teaching staff with the help of the academic coordinator.
N
- To co-ordinate with theteaching and non-teaching staff of the department for smooth function of conduction of academic, co-curricular and extracurricular activities of the department.
N




- To present the department/program budget/requirement to the dean.
N
- To take the lesson planfrom the faculty members and to ensure they follow the plan and syllabus is completed in the stipulated time.
N
- To ensure smooth conduct of examinations including paper setting, assessment of theory and lab.
N
- To ensure quality, maintenance and cleanliness of the department.
N
- To forward leave applications of the departmental colleagues.
N
- To motivate faculty towards research proposals to various research funding agencies.
N
- To encourage research and creative programs in the department.
N
- To invite guest speakers for interaction and guidance to students.
N
- To facilitate faculty in the preparation and processing of self-appraisal of performance.
N
- To ensure that school/college equipment/facilities under the department's control are properly maintained and serviced as required.

nExperience Required:

- 15 - 20 yrs + preferred University / Industry experience.
N

nEducation:

N

n
- Master's Degree or Ph.D (Doctor of Philosophy) in Psychology.
N
- Advance degree in relevant filed / Certification course.
N

nSkills Required:

- Strong academic credentials required, Teaching and Research Experience (Management or related discipline), and Patents.

- Leadership and Management Skills, Curriculum development, Accreditation Knowledge, Industry Connection, Communication, Interpersonal Skills and Networking skills.
