Estaa Gems, a leading luxury jewelry house, is seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee all production activities that follow the CAD stage. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of jewelry manufacturing, a sharp eye for quality, and the ability to manage a factory and workshop team while ensuring every order is delivered on time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Oversight: Oversee all production processes after the CAD stage, including casting, filing, polishing and repolishing, ensuring each stage is executed to the precision and finish expected of a luxury jewelry brand. Review work in progress at every stage to catch defects early and prevent rework further down the line.
- Bill of Materials: Create, maintain and track the bill of materials for each product, including gold, diamonds, gemstones and other materials issued, ensuring accurate reconciliation from CAD through to final finished piece.
- Scheduling: Plan and manage production schedules across all in-house and outsourced stages, sequencing orders by complexity and priority to ensure timely completion, and adjusting plans proactively when delays or bottlenecks arise.
- Vendor Coordination: Coordinate job work and outsourcing with external vendors and karigars, including sourcing and onboarding vendors capable of handling intricate and high-complexity designs, negotiating timelines and rates, tracking deliveries, and expediting where required.
- Quality Control: Conduct thorough quality control checks at each stage of production, including casting quality, stone setting, finishing and polish, to ensure every piece meets the brand's exacting standards before it is approved for delivery.
- Cost Management: Track production costs and material usage against the bill of materials to keep losses and wastage in check, and flag any deviations in gold or stone weight for review.
- Team Management: Manage the factory and workshop team,
including staffing, training and day to day supervision, and build the team's capability to handle intricate, high-precision work consistently.
- Issue Resolution: Identify production issues as they arise, including quality defects, delays or capacity constraints, and ensure they are highlighted promptly and resolved with minimal impact to delivery timelines.
- Delivery: Ensure products are delivered on time, and keep the team and the Founders updated on client deliveries and quality control status through regular, proactive communication.
- Outsourcing Process: Manage the outsourcing cycle end to end, briefing vendors on specs and timelines through to checking finished output. Monitor products at outsourced units and with karigars at every stage against the brand's standards, with particular attention to intricate work such as fine filigree, complex stone setting and detailed hand-finishing.
- Reporting: Provide daily production updates, a weekly production report, and a monthly gold loss and wastage report to the Founders, with clear visibility into order status, quality issues and cost variances.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Jewelry Manufacturing, or a related field.
- 4 to 7 years of experience managing jewelry production or workshop operations with a luxury jewelry brand.
- Proven experience working with luxury jewelry brands known for intricate, high-complexity production, such as fine filigree work, elaborate stone setting or detailed hand-finishing.
- Working knowledge of casting, filing, polishing and finishing processes.
- Experience coordinating job work and vendor outsourcing, including identifying and managing vendors capable of intricate, high-precision work.
- Strong quality control and process orientation, with a keen eye for detail on complex designs.
- Team management experience in a factory or workshop setting.
- Ability to work within a high precision, low volume, high end setting.
