Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Data Migration Tester to oversee and manage the data migration testing process. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that data migration efforts meet business requirements, are accurate, complete, and secure. This role requires a robust background in data migration projects, excellent analytical skills, and a deep understanding of testing methodologies.

Responsibilities

- Leads multiple phases of a project and/or multiple projects of moderate scope and sometimes complex assignments.
- Responsible for managing own and team's time within a certain test area and conditions with respect to analysis and design, implementation and system integration, execution as well as results evaluation, problem resolution and planning.
- Assures the project team meets quality standards by allocating work and providing guidance in planning, designing, executing testing, and developing procedures relating to product quality.
- Participates in formal reviews of business requirements and application designs and ensuring proper test coverage based on requirements and design specifications.
- Talks to relevant business stakeholders on strategies and methods to improve test plans and processes. Has an understanding of the overall test strategy.
- Leads the test execution and creation of scripts as per test plans, co-ordinating schedules, work and resource plans; leading the progress of all activities against the overall plan.
- Determines the potential causes of problems and analyses multiple alternatives, risks, and benefits for a range of potential solutions. Translates these to best practices.
- Analyses and reports on overall test status and results,



identifing issues and reporting to relevant stakeholders, manages risks to the success of the project.
- Identifies and manages the critical path of testing and ensures execution of project regression tasks. Defines regression tests for future projects and defines and coordinates production verification and validation.
- Develops a network to support and add value to client engagements including company, clients and external professional networks.
- Supports test management in developing project plans and tracking against key milestone dates

Essential skills

- Having at least 7 years of experience in Data Migration Testing or ETL testing
- Should have worked in Oracle DB extensively as part of Data migration / ETL testing
- Having at least 2 years of experience in Big Data Testing (Hadoop - Sqoop, HDFS and Hive) and Change Data Capture testing
- Must have experience in testing the structured, semi-structured, unstructured & real time data ingested in to Hadoop
- Should have experience in Data Lineage Testing Should be capable of understanding and explaining the Data Mapping specification to the team

- Should be strong in writing complex queries in SQL & HQL and good at trouble shooting & performance fine tuning.
- Must have experience in preparing Master Test Plan & Release Test Plan.
- Must have experience in preparing Data Migration Test Strategy
- Should be good at reviewing all the Test wares
- Should be valuable at Defect analysis and reporting
- Must have experience in preparing daily test execution progress dashboard and Test Closure report

- Experience in Query Surge tool is an added advantage
- Should have excellent communication, client handling skills and interpersonal skills
- Should be a good mentor to guide the team in removing blocks and making progress
