Mechanical Engineer Location: Bengaluru, India
Type: Full-Time About the Role
We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and manufacture satellite payload systems and structures, owning the full lifecycle from concept through simulation, DFM, and mechanism development while working closely with cross-functional teams to build reliable, flight-ready hardware and as we're currently focused on payloads with a roadmap to bring subsystem development (structures, mechanisms, thermal, propulsion) in-house, this is a role that will grow in scope as we scale. Key Responsibilities
Design satellite payload housings and structures, ensuring structural integrity under launch and on-orbit environmental conditions
Develop and design mechanisms (deployables, actuators, release mechanisms, etc.) for payload and future subsystem applications
Perform structural, thermal, and vibration simulations (FEA) to validate designs against mission requirements
Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure designs are optimized for fabrication, assembly, and cost
Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to troubleshoot fabrication issues and refine designs for production
Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings, tolerance stack-ups, and BOMs
Work closely with systems, thermal, and electrical teams to ensure integrated subsystem compatibility
Support prototyping, testing, and qualification activities (environmental testing, vibration testing, thermal vacuum testing, etc.)
Contribute to building in-house design and manufacturing capability as the company expands from payload development into broader subsystem work
Document design iterations, test results, and engineering changes. Requirements
B.Tech/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
3+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design,
preferably in Space Tech, Aerospace, or Automotive industries
Hands-on experience with CAD tools.
Working knowledge of FEA/simulation tools.
Strong understanding of DFM/DFA principles and manufacturing processes.
Experience in mechanism design (deployables, hinges, latches, actuation systems)
Familiarity with materials used in aerospace/space applications.
Understanding of environmental qualification standards (vibration, shock, thermal vacuum) is a plus
Strong problem-solving skills, ownership mindset, and ability to work in a rapid-paced, hardware-focused startup environment Nice to Have
Prior experience working on satellite or launch vehicle programs
Exposure to GD&T; and tolerance analysis
Experience with PLM/PDM systems
Interest/experience in subsystem-level design (structures, propulsion, thermal control) About ULOOK
