Role Purpose The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development and release of mechanical components, sheet metal enclosures, plastic parts and product assemblies. The role includes concept development, 3D modelling, manufacturing drawings, engineering change management, cost estimation, prototype development, vendor coordination and production support to ensure high-quality, cost-effective products.

· Design and develop mechanical parts, assemblies, sheet metal enclosures and plastic components using SolidWorks.

· Create detailed 3D models, manufacturing drawings and assembly drawings.

· Prepare, review and release engineering drawings for manufacturing in accordance with company standards.

· Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), revision history and engineering documentation.

· Prepare cost sheets by evaluating material, manufacturing and assembly costs to support product costing.

· Coordinate with vendors for quotations,



manufacturing feasibility and process improvements.

· Follow up with vendors for prototype fabrication, sample development and timely delivery.

· Inspect prototype parts, identify design issues and implement improvements before production release.

· Coordinate with production, quality, procurement and R&D; teams to ensure smooth product development.

· Support product testing, validation and design modifications based on trial results.

· Apply GD&T;, tolerances and fits while preparing engineering drawings.

· Ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective and meet quality, safety and customer requirements.

· Support engineering change requests (ECR/ECO) and maintain drawing revisions.

Knowledge of IP/IK standards, sheet metal fabrication, aluminium extrusion and plastic injection moulding is preferred.

Skills Requirement

Proficiency in SolidWorks (Part Modelling, Assembly, Sheet Metal and Drafting).

Working knowledge of AutoCAD.

Positive understanding of sheet metal fabrication, machining, plastic moulding and manufacturing processes.

Knowledge of GD&T;, tolerances, fits and engineering standards.

Experience in drawing release, document control and BOM management.

Experience in cost sheet preparation and basic cost optimisation.

Strong vendor coordination, prototype follow-up and production support skills.

Good communication, problem-solving and cross-functional coordination abilities.
