Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) components and assemblies for automotive/engine applications.
- Perform EGR-related engineering calculations including flow, pressure drop, thermal considerations, valve sizing and performance calculations.
- Develop 3D models, assemblies and detailed 2D drawings using Creo / Pro-E.
- Translate customer and system requirements into robust mechanical design solutions.
- Perform design calculations, tolerance stack-up and feasibility studies.
- Develop and optimize EGR components considering performance, durability, manufacturability and cost.
- Prepare and review GD&T;, BOM, engineering drawings and design documentation.
- Support concept development, prototype build, testing, validation and production release.
- Conduct Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and support design reviews.
- Work closely with CAE, testing, manufacturing, quality, sourcing and suppliers during product development.
- Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) / Design for Assembly (DFA) and value engineering activities.
- Analyse design issues, identify root causes and implement engineering improvements.
- Manage engineering changes, design modifications and product development activities.
- Support prototype and validation activities and resolve design-related issues during testing.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable automotive standards, customer specifications and emission requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to junior design engineers and independently own assigned development projects.
Required Technical Skills
- 8 to 12 years of experience in Mechanical / Automotive Design & Development.
- Strong hands-on experience in EGR system/component design and development.
- Good understanding of EGR calculations, flow characteristics, pressure drop and thermal aspects.
- Robust proficiency in Creo / Pro-E for 3D modelling, assemblies and 2D drawings.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T; and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Experience in DFMEA, DFM, DFA and design validation.
- Good understanding of automotive manufacturing processes such as casting, forging, machining and sheet metal.
- Experience in engineering change management, BOM and technical documentation.
- Good understanding of automotive engine components / emission control systems.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
