Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Mainframe Production Support Engineer to provide L2/L3 support for critical enterprise applications running on IBM Mainframe environments. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in incident management, batch monitoring, job scheduling, troubleshooting production issues, and ensuring high availability of business-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide 24x7 production support for mainframe applications and infrastructure.
- Monitor and manage batch jobs, schedulers, and production workflows.
- Investigate and resolve production incidents, abends, and job failures.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures.
- Coordinate with development, infrastructure, and business teams for issue resolution.
- Handle service requests, change requests, and problem management activities.
- Ensure adherence to SLA, incident response, and escalation procedures.
- Participate in release and deployment activities during maintenance windows.
- Prepare operational documentation, runbooks, and support reports.
- Support performance tuning and system optimization initiatives.

Technical Skills Required:





Mainframe Technologies:

- IBM z/OS
- JCL (Job Control Language)
- COBOL
- CICS
- DB2
- VSAM
- TSO/ISPF

Scheduling & Monitoring:

- Control-M / CA7 / Tivoli Workload Scheduler
- Batch job monitoring
- File transfer monitoring

Support & Troubleshooting:

- Abend analysis
- SMF logs and spool analysis
- Incident management tools (ServiceNow, Remedy, etc.)
- Production issue triaging and escalation handling

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5 8 years of experience in Mainframe Production Support.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Positive understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts and support critical production environments.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience in Banking / Financial Services domain.
- Exposure to automation and scripting.
- Knowledge of MQ, FTP, and file transmission processes.
- Experience in handling high-volume batch processing environments.
