- Design, develop, test, and implement mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and ensure that applications meet business needs
- Perform system analysis, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation
- Optimize and enhance existing mainframe applications for performance and maintainability
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner
- Participate in Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process improvements
- Ensure code quality and adherence to coding standards and best practices
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advancements in mainframe technology
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology,
or a related field
- 5 to 10 years of experience in mainframe development
- Proficient in COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM
- Robust understanding of Agile Software Development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe)
- Experience with mainframe tools and utilities
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in financial services or a related industry
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools
- Knowledge of additional mainframe programming languages and technologies
