- Organize, manage, and maintain the school library in an orderly, user-friendly manner.
- Assist students and staff in locating, selecting, and using print and digital resources.
- Manage the cataloguing, classification, and circulation of library materials using library management software.
- Promote reading habits and research skills through library periods, reading programs, and events like Book Week, Reading Challenges, and Author Talks.
- Provide guidance on research techniques, referencing, and use of online databases.
- Work with teachers to support curriculum needs through curated reading materials.
- Ensure regular maintenance and inventory of books, magazines, periodicals, and digital resources.
- Encourage ethical use of information and responsible digital citizenship.
- Assist in organizing book fairs, literary events,
and library clubs.
- Stay updated with new publications, educational resources, and technology trends in libraries.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library Science (B.Lib / M.Lib) from a recognized university.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience working as a school librarian (preferred).
- Proficient in library automation software such as Libsys and Destiny.
- Familiarity with digital libraries and e-resources.
- Robust communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to foster a love of reading in students from diverse age groups.
