Job Summary The Fire Protection System Design Engineer will lead the design and implementation of fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. This role requires a deep understanding of fire protection principles, engineering expertise, and effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- System Design:
- Design fire sprinkler, deluge, suppression and alarm systems based on project specifications.
- Conduct hydraulic calculations and ensure optimal system performance.
- Select appropriate equipment and materials for fire protection systems.
- Code Compliance:
- Stay current with local and national fire codes, regulations, and standards.
- Ensure all designs adhere to applicable safety and environmental guidelines.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate fire protection systems seamlessly into project designs.
- Participate in project meetings, providing technical input and support.
- Documentation:
- Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of design changes, approvals, and project revisions.
- Technical Analysis:
- Conduct risk assessments and analyses to identify potential fire hazards.
- Perform system inspections and troubleshoot issues during the design and implementation phases.
- Project Management:
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets related to fire protection system design.
- Communicate project status and updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Training and Support:
- Provide training and support to internal teams and clients on fire protection system designs and functionalities.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team skill development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
- 10-15 years of experience in designing fire protection systems for various projects.
- Proficiency in relevant design software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, REVIT, hydraulic calculation software).
