The Junior Web Developer is responsible for the end-to-end development of client websites, working across four key phases: Build, Test, and Operate & Maintain.

The role requires a hands-on professional who can translate client briefs into functional, secure, and visually engaging websites using modern development tools and best practices.

This is a client-facing services role best suited to candidates with agency or service-provider experience.

Roles, Responsibilities, and Duties:

BUILD

- Write well-designed, testable, and productive code using best software development practices.
- Create website layouts and user interfaces using standard HTML / CSS practices.
- Integrate data from various back-end services and databases.
- Integrate with third-party tools and plugins as required.
- Ensure security through appropriate security platforms and SSL certificates.
- Use developer environments such as WordPress, Wix, or others as preferred by the customer.

TEST

- Test for features and functionality to ensure they meet client specifications.
- Test for navigability and user friendliness across devices and browsers.
- Conduct security testing to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.

OPERATE & MAINTAIN

- Ensure continuous upkeep of the website and make incremental improvements as required.
- Maintain and troubleshoot the website in a timely manner to minimize downtime.

Must-Have Skills:

- Front-End Development:



Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and responsive web design principles.
- Back-End Development: Experience with PHP and server-side scripting.
- Database: Hands-on experience with MySQL for database design and querying.
- CMS Platforms: Practical experience with WordPress; exposure to Wix or similar platforms.
- Integration: Ability to integrate third-party APIs, plugins, and back-end services.
- Security: Understanding of web security best practices, including SSL certificates and secure coding

Good to have Skills:

- Experience developing and managing eCommerce websites (e.g. WooCommerce, Shopify).
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git / GitHub.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and web performance optimisation.
- Exposure to JavaScript frameworks (e.g. jQuery, React basics).
- Good communication and analytical skills.

Specific skills, if any:

- Ability to work across both custom-coded projects and CMS-based platforms.
- Strong attention to detail in UI design and cross-browser / cross-device testing.
- Capacity to manage multiple client website projects simultaneously in an agency setting.
- Good to have Certifications, if applicable:
- Any relevant certification will be an added advantage.
- Google Analytics Individual Qualification (GAIQ) is a plus.
- WordPress Developer Certification or equivalent CMS credentials are a plus.

Note: The candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills, with a minimum proficiency of 8 out of 10.
