Junior Green Bean Buyer – Role Breakdown & Responsibilities
Role Focus
This role is primarily focused on green bean procurement and origin engagement, with strong emphasis on field work, relationship building, and quality alignment.
Key Responsibilities & Weightage
- Green Bean Procurement & Origin Development (40%)
- Travel to coffee estates, cooperatives, and growing regions
- Identify and onboard new farm partners aligned with company portfolio
- Evaluate farms based on quality potential, processing capability, and consistency
- Build and maintain a robust sourcing pipeline
- Producer Relationship Management (20%)
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with growers
- Ensure regular communication and follow-ups
- Support growers with feedback and alignment on quality expectations
- Documentation & Field Data Capture (15%)
- Document detailed farm information during visits (variety, processing, elevation,
etc.)
- Capture photos and videos for internal and marketing use
- Maintain structured records of all origin interactions
- Coffee Evaluation & Cupping (10%)
- Assist in cupping and sensory evaluation of samples
- Maintain cupping records and support quality benchmarking
- Share structured cupping reports with growers
- Roasting Support (10%)
- Learn roasting fundamentals and support on a need basis
- Assist in roasting during Harvest off season
- Exposure to roast profiling and coffee development
- Sample Management & Coordination (5%)
- Manage incoming samples and ensure proper tracking
- Coordinate sample dispatch and reporting timelines
- Maintain communication flow between sourcing, roasting, and producers
Tools & Systems
- Working knowledge (or willingness to learn):
o Cropster (roasting, Inventory & cupping reports)
o NetSuite (inventory Inward & Outward)
