Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Journal Management & Publishing Administrator (OJS) with hands-on experience managing academic journals from journal setup to final publication. The ideal candidate should have practical knowledge of Open Journal Systems (OJS) or similar Journal Management Systems (JMS) and be capable of independently managing complete journal operations.
Important: This is not an Editor, Copy Editor, Proofreader, Content Writer, or Researcher role. We are specifically looking for professionals who have worked as Journal Administrators, Journal Managers, OJS Administrators, or Publishing Administrators, managing the complete journal publishing workflow.
Key Responsibilities Journal Administration
Configure and administer journals in Open Journal Systems (OJS).
Set up new journals, user roles, permissions, workflows, and publishing settings.
Manage journal configuration, policies, sections, issues, and publication schedules.
Editorial Workflow
Management
Manage the complete manuscript lifecycle from submission to publication.
Coordinate manuscript screening, editorial assignments, peer review, revisions, copyediting, production, and publication.
Monitor manuscript progress and ensure timely completion of each stage. OJS Administration
Configure workflows, email templates, forms, and system settings.
Manage users, editors, reviewers, authors, and permissions.
Troubleshoot workflow and system-related issues.
Test new features and validate publishing workflows. Publishing & Metadata
Manage issue creation and article publication.
Ensure accurate metadata for published articles.
Support DOI registration and metadata deposits.
Coordinate Crossref, ORCID, and other publishing integrations where applicable.
Ensure compliance with scholarly publishing standards. Product & Process Improvement
Work closely with the Product and Development teams to improve journal workflows.
Prepare workflow documentation and functional requirements.
Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
Assist in testing current platform features. Training & Support
Onboard new journals.
Train editors, reviewers, and journal staff.
Provide ongoing technical and workflow support.
Required
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience managing academic journals using Open Journal Systems (OJS).
Proven experience managing the complete journal publishing lifecycle from submission to publication.
