Growth Marketer Intern (Remote)
Employment Type: Internship (paid; full-time or part-time)
Duration: 3–6 months, with a path to a permanent role
Location: Remote (Canada preferred, or overlapping eastern time)
Timings: 6:00 PM - 3:00 AM IST
Reports to: Founder, working alongside our SEO lead About us
We're a digital marketing agency serving Canadian mortgage professionals, and we're building our own products too. Technical SEO is already handled in-house. What we need is someone to own everything else that gets us noticed - content, social, online communities, earned mentions, and showing up when people ask AI assistants questions.
This is a real role with real ownership, not a coffee-and-spreadsheets internship. You'll publish things with your name on the work, and we'll teach you the parts you haven't done yet. How we work:
- We hand you a project and expect you to make it happen. We won't be managing your calendar,
breaking work into daily tasks, or checking whether you've started. You'll get the goal, the context,
and whatever access you need - how it gets done is your problem to figure out.
- Support is available, but you have to reach for it. Ask us anything, any time, and we'll help. What we won't do is hover, chase you for updates, or notice on your behalf that something's stalled. If you're blocked, say so. If you need a tool, ask. If something isn't working, bring it up early - that's on you.
- We measure output, not hours. Nobody's tracking when you log on. We care that the content ships, the communities grow, and the results move.
This suits people who like autonomy and hate being micromanaged. It's a bad fit if you're used to being told exactly what to do each morning - you'd be waiting a long time. Who this is for:
You've done a couple of internships, or run your own projects, and you actually know your way around this stuff. You've grown an account, written things that people read, or been genuinely active in online communities. You don't need years of experience - you need hands-on instincts, initiative, and the willingness to learn fast.
If you're the person your friends ask about Reddit, TikTok, or how to make a post land and the kind of person who starts things without being asked - we want to talk to you. What you'll be doing:
- Content
A.
Write and publish articles, guides, newsletters, social posts, and short-form video scripts.
B. Turn dry mortgage and finance topics into things people actually finish reading.
C. Take one strong piece and repurpose it into five formats.
D. Build content around real questions people are asking online.
- Social media
A. Run our day-to-day presence - LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, and short-form video.
B. Own the content calendar and keep it consistently full.
C. Reply to comments and DMs quickly and in our voice.
D. Track what's working and tell us what you'd change.
- Communities & forums: This is the part where interns often outperform senior hires, because you're already living in these spaces:
A. Be genuinely active in Facebook Groups, LinkedIn Groups, Reddit, Quora, Discord servers,
and industry forums where our audience hangs out.
B. Help first, promote later. Answer questions, add value, build a real reputation. Communities can smell promotion instantly and they punish it - a banned account costs us more than a post is worth.
C. Follow every community rules carefully.
D. Figure out which communities are worth our time and which are a waste, and tell us honestly.
- Earned backlinks & mentions
A. Help get other sites to mention and link to us - through useful content, outreach, guest posts, partnerships, and being helpful to people who write about our space.
B. No paid links, no automated outreach blasts. We only want links we actually earned.
C. You'll get coached on this one. Outreach is a learnable skill and we don't expect you to arrive knowing it.
- AI-engine visibility
People increasingly ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI answers instead of clicking search results. Part of your job is making sure we're what they tell about:
A. Structure content so AI systems can easily read and quote it - transparent headings, direct answers up front, good FAQs.
B.
Help build the mentions and citations across the web that these systems draw from.
C. Keep our information consistent everywhere so we get described accurately.
D. Watch how we show up in AI answers and help improve it.
This field is new enough that nobody has a decade of experience in it - if you're curious and you experiment, you can get good at it fast. We'd love someone who ends up teaching us things here. What we're looking for:
- One or two internships, freelance gigs, or personal projects where you did this work yourself.
- Strong writing. This is the one thing we won't compromise on - everything else can be taught.
- Real, active presence in online communities. A Reddit account with genuine history beats a polished porƞolio.
- Basic comfort with analytics (GA4, Search Console, social insights) or the eagerness to learn them quickly.
- Genuine self-direction. You can take a goal, break it down yourself, and drive it to be done without being chased. This is the single most important thing on this list after writing.
- The judgment to know when to just decide and when to ask.
- Reliability. Consistency matters more than brilliance in this role - we need to trust that assigned work lands without follow-up. Helpful but not required:
- Canva, CapCut, or basic design/video editing.
- Familiarity with SEO basics.
- Interest in Canadian markets, finance, real estate, or newcomer communities.
- Comfort using AI tools to work faster, while keeping the writing human and the quality high. Not a fit if you:
- Think community marketing means dropping links and leaving.
- Plan to generate content with AI and publish it unedited.
- Need daily direction, or go quiet when you're stuck instead of asking.
- Wait to be told on what to do next. What you'll get:
- Full ownership of real channels, not busywork - you'll run them, not assist on them.
- Direct access to the founder and our SEO lead whenever you want input. We're genuinely happy to teach; we just won't chase.
- Freedom to experiment - we'd rather allow you try ten things and have three work.
- The autonomy to work how and when you want, judged on what you deliver.
- Real work you can pitch in your portfolio.
- A clear path to a permanent role if it goes well.
