Frontend Developer -Desktop Applications

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Frontend Developer (4-6 years) to build a cross-platform desktop client for the IceWarp collaboration platform. The application will provide enterprise users with a modern desktop experience for email, calendars, contacts, chat, team collaboration, video conferencing, files, office documents, tasks and notes, while securely connecting to IceWarp server services.

The primary target platforms are Windows and macOS, with Linux support considered an advantage.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with React Native, TypeScript and Electron and understands the performance, security and deployment requirements of enterprise desktop software.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop and maintain the desktop client using Electron, React and TypeScript.
- Build responsive, high-performance user interfaces for Windows and macOS.
- Develop features across email, calendars, contacts, chat, video meetings, files, office documents, tasks and notes.
- Implement reliable local storage, caching and synchronization with IceWarp servers.
- Integrate with IceWarp APIs and relevant communication protocols.
- Implement secure authentication, session management and local data protection.
- Optimize application startup time, rendering performance, memory usage and synchronization.
- Implement native desktop capabilities including notifications, background synchronization, automatic updates and file handling.
- Package, sign and release desktop applications for Windows and macOS.
- Collaborate with backend engineers, designers and product managers.
- Write clean,



maintainable and well-tested code while participating in code reviews.

Required Skills & Experience

- 4-6 years of professional experience in frontend or desktop application development.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript and React Native.
- Hands-on experience building desktop applications using Electron.
- Experience developing applications for Windows and/or macOS.
- Experience integrating REST APIs.
- Understanding of local storage, offline capabilities, caching and data synchronization.
- Knowledge of secure authentication and local data protection.
- Experience with state management libraries such as Redux or Zustand.
- Strong debugging, performance optimization and Git workflow experience.
- Understanding of responsive, cross-platform desktop UI development.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with email and collaboration technologies, including IMAP, SMTP, EWS, Exchange ActiveSync, WebSocket and WebRTC.
- Experience with SQLite or other embedded databases.
- Familiarity with Electron security (Context Isolation, IPC Security and Process Sandboxing).
- Experience with desktop installers, code signing and automatic updates.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library or Playwright.
- Familiarity with Sentry or similar monitoring tools.
- Experience supporting Linux desktop applications.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Solid communication, problem-solving and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional engineering environment.
