We are seeking a high-caliber Process Engineer with a background in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering to oversee our Fire Assay and Precious Metal Refining department. Unlike a standard technician role, you will be responsible for the technical integrity, process optimization, and industrial scaling of our assaying operations. You will bridge the gap between traditional craftsmanship and up-to-date engineering to ensure our jewellery alloys meet world-class standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Process Engineering & Optimization
- Analyze existing fire assay workflows to improve throughput and reduce "gold loss" during the fusion and cupellation stages.
- Implement Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor the accuracy and precision of assay results.
- Troubleshoot chemical inconsistencies in the parting process (acid-to-metal ratios).
2. Equipment & Systems Management
- Mechanical Focus: Oversee the maintenance and calibration of automated dosing systems, muffle furnaces, and high-precision micro-balances.
- Chemical Focus: Manage the chemical laboratory, ensuring proper handling, neutralization, and disposal of hazardous effluents and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions.
3.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Act as the technical lead for internal audits and compliance with international hallmarking standards.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the preparation of "proof" samples and gold cornets.
4. Safety & Environmental Engineering
- Design and maintain advanced ventilation and scrubbers systems to ensure a lead-free work environment.
- Lead safety training regarding thermal hazards and chemical hygiene.
Candidate Requirements
- Education: B.Tech / B.E. in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 1+ years in an industrial lab, metallurgy plant, or jewellery manufacturing facility (Fire Assay experience is a significant advantage).
- Technical Proficiency:
- Knowledge of thermodynamics and heat transfer (for furnace optimization).
- Understanding of mass balance and stoichiometry (for chemical assaying).
- Proficiency in CAD (for floor layout/equipment design) or Minitab/Excel (for data analysis).
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
Benefits
- Food provided
Work Location: In person
