Your Next Opportunity:
Role Overview
We’re looking for a Data Platform Engineer to evolve our MLS data ingestion platform.
This system is foundational to our current products, processing data from a MLS providers across North America.
In the near term, you’ll ensure the reliability and scalability of our existing ETL platform. Over time, you’ll play a key role in migrating this system to a modern, event-driven architecture built on our next-generation platform (RISE).
This role works closely with a US-based Data Platform Engineer. You will be responsible for critical data pipelines—ensuring reliability today while helping transition our platform to a modern, event-driven architecture in the future.
This is not a support role. You will be responsible for production systems, integrations, and contributing to the future design of our data platform.
What You’ll Do
Own Production Data Pipelines
- Operate and maintain ETL pipelines ingesting data from MLS systems across North America
- Support multiple ingestion methods and formats (RESO, RETS, XML, JSON APIs, SFTP, S3)
- Ensure high availability and reliability of data flows that power customer-facing products
Be the First Line of Investigation
- Debug missing or inconsistent data across complex ingestion pipelines
- Perform root cause analysis across services, data transformations, and storage layers
- Work directly with internal teams to resolve issues
Integrate and Expand Data Sources
- Onboard new MLS feeds and external data providers
- Normalize and map varying data formats into internal schemas
- Handle inconsistencies across dozens of external systems
- Write scripts to process data and update existing code paths
Contribute to Platform Modernization
- Partner with the Platform Team to evolve the system architecture
- Support migration from legacy ETL pipelines to streaming systems (Kafka-based)
- Help design more scalable, observable, and resilient ingestion patterns
Improve System Observability
- Build and enhance monitoring, logging, and alerting
- Increase visibility into pipeline health, latency, and data quality
What You Bring
- 3–6 years of backend or data engineering experience
- Experience working with ETL or data ingestion systems in production
- Strong skills in PostgreSQL (PLSQL, stored procedures, performance, schema design)
- Experience writing Ruby
- Experience integrating external systems (APIs, file ingestion, etc.)
- Ability to debug complex production issues independently
- Comfort working in a distributed team (India ↔ US collaboration)
Nice to Have
- Exposure to Kafka or streaming systems
- Experience with legacy system modernization or migrations
- Familiarity with real estate data forms in North America
