Environment Engineer

Position Summary The Environment Engineer ensures full compliance with local environmental laws, ZDHC, wastewater norms, air emission standards, and factory sustainability requirements. The role oversees water, wastewater, air emissions, chemical management, waste handling, and energy performance across wet and dry processes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Water & Wastewater Management

- Monitor daily water consumption; maintain flowmeter readings (inlet, process, discharge).
- Prepare monthly L/kg water consumption reports.
- Ensure wastewater testing meets ZDHC Wastewater Guidelines (2 per year + monthly internal checks).
- Coordinate with external ISO 17025 labs for wastewater analysis.
- Maintain ETP operation records: flow, sludge, chemical dosing, discharge permits.
- Ensure no bypass and 100% treatment of process wastewater.
- Maintain water mapping for all wet processes.

2. Chemical Management (ZDHC)

- Maintain complete Chemical Inventory List with CAS, function, formulator, lot number, ZDHC level.
- Ensure 100% Level 3 ZDHC chemicals; eliminate “C” class chemicals.
- Verify SDS/TDS availability and compliance with MRSL/RSL.
- Ensure proper chemical storage, segregation, and FIFO.
- Conduct monthly InCheck and upload CIL to ZDHC Gateway.
- Implement chemical traceability from PO recipe batch final garment.

3. Air Emissions & Energy

- Monitor boiler, stenter, dryer emissions; ensure compliance with legal limits.
- Maintain records of fuel consumption (biomass, gas, diesel).




- Prepare monthly energy consumption reports.
- Implement decarbonization plan with 4.2% annual reduction.
- Ensure insulation of steam pipelines (>80%) and zero leakage.
- Promote renewable energy usage.

4. Solid & Hazardous Waste Management

- Maintain hazardous waste inventory and disposal records.
- Ensure proper segregation, labeling, and storage of waste.
- Coordinate with authorized waste handlers.
- Maintain recycling and waste reduction plans.
- Ensure no burning of textile waste.

5. Compliance & Documentation

- Maintain all environmental permits: water, wastewater, air emissions, ETP license.
- Prepare monthly and annual environmental compliance reports.
- Lead internal audits and support external audits (brand, regulatory).
- Maintain SOPs for water, wastewater, chemicals, testing, and waste.

6. Training & Awareness

- Train operators on chemical handling, MRSL/RSL, wastewater, and ETP operation.
- Conduct monthly environmental awareness sessions.
- Ensure sustainability culture across production teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- B.Tech / M.Tech in Environmental Engineering / Chemical Engineering.
- 2–7 years experience in garment washing, dyeing, or textile wet processing.
- Strong knowledge of ZDHC, wastewater norms, air emission standards.
- Experience with ETP/STP operation and wastewater analysis.
- Solid documentation and audit handling skills.
- Ability to work with production, maintenance, and chemical teams
