Own the engine room of a fast-growing European brand ☀️ Baser is a Danish premium parasol/umbrella brand, sold across Denmark, Germany, the UK, Australia and the US. We've spent years building something that works — and now it's growing fast, in five markets at once. Behind every storefront, every order, every "did my parasol arrive," there's one platform holding it all together.
We're looking for the person who will own it. This isn't a ticket-closing job. It's the role that keeps a five-market business running and makes it run better — and it reports straight to the founders, because it matters that much to us.
What you'll actually own
Start with the catalogue, because that's the heart of it. Our product data lives across five country storefronts, and all of it belongs to you: attributes, pricing, categories, barcodes, bulk imports, and the discipline of keeping it accurate while the range keeps growing. When a retail partner needs several hundred products listed with correct barcodes before their season opens, that's your deadline.
Then there's Magento itself. You'll be in the admin most days — configuring storefronts, working out why something displays wrong in one market and fine in another, checking a change before it goes live rather than discovering it afterwards. Then there's everything the shop is connected to.
Our warehouse runs on Ongoing, our finance on Uniconta, our parcels through several carriers across five countries. These systems are supposed to agree with each other and they don't always. Finding out why, and getting it properly fixed rather than patched, is yours.
You won't be writing the code yourself — we work with a development agency for that. But you'll brief them, own the ticket queue, and chase things to done. You'll have no formal authority over them,
and getting excellent work out of them anyway is genuinely the hardest part of this job.
It's also the part we'll value most.
And this year, you'll help us ship a new storefront. We're rebuilding our frontend on Hyvä. We design it, you run the build to launch. Why this role is different
Most e-commerce operations roles are reactive — you inherit a mess and keep it from getting worse. This one is the opposite. You're joining early enough to shape the infrastructure of a company doubling in size, to build the systems that everything else stands on, and to genuinely make people's work better: cleaner data, faster decisions, less chaos. As we grow, so does your remit — from owning the platform today to owning how our whole digital operation runs tomorrow. Who we're looking for
Someone who has run an online store as their actual job — as the person responsible for it, day after day, rather than as one of ten client projects. You know your way around Magento admin, not as a developer but as someone who lives in it. You've run a bulk import that failed and you know why it failed.
You've had a warehouse system and a webshop disagree about stock, and you were the one who found the cause. You think like a business person first and speak enough tech to be dangerous — you know what an API is, you can scope an integration and brief a developer on it, and you can tell a good estimate from a fairy tale. You're the kind of person who is genuinely bothered by messy data and unclear processes,
and quietly delighted when you've made something run smoothly.
You'll also be the only person in this seat. Nobody reports to you, nobody tests your work, and nobody chases your deadlines. That suits some people enormously and makes others miserable, so it's worth being honest with yourself about which you are.
The one habit that matters more than any other here is asking a clarifying question instead of guessing — you'll be handed a specification and expected to hold it exactly. If you've played with automation and AI tools — n8n, Claude — that's a real plus, because that's increasingly how we work. About us
We're a small, ambitious team that treats customers like friends and each other the same way. We move quick, we care about craft, and we're building something we're proud of. You'll have real ownership from day one, direct access to the founders, and the rare chance to shape a growing company from the inside.
You'll need a decent overlap with European hours. How to apply
