Job Title: Domain Architect Automation & Integration
Location: Chennai Department: Technology Excellence Reporting To: CTO – Technology Excellence
Works Closely With: Director – Strategic Initiatives & Programs (SIP), Director – Service Delivery, AI Program Manager, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Teams, Security/Compliance
---
Job Purpose
The Domain Architect Automation & Integration is responsible for defining and governing architecture standards, reference patterns, and integration approaches within the automation domain across UiPath execution environments, ERP/workflow platforms (Odoo/BR Connect), and API-driven integrations.
The role provides system-level design guidance to ensure automation solutions are scalable, modular, interoperable, secure, audit-ready, and cost-effective across multiple clients and heterogeneous EMR/PMS environments. The Architect drives consistency through pragmatic standards and reusable frameworks, and partners with delivery teams, platform engineering, security, and operations to reduce risk and improve speed of execution.
This is a platform architecture and technical leadership role (not a primary “build every bot” role).
---
Key Responsibilities
- Automation Domain Architecture
- Define target-state automation domain architecture and integration patterns across UiPath, ERP/workflow systems, and API integrations.
- Establish and maintain architectural standards, reusable templates, reference frameworks, and modular design principles (e.g., configuration, exception taxonomy, logging schema).
- Define centralized observability standards (logging, metrics, traceability, alerts) and ensure automation telemetry supports operational and audit requirements.
- Define architecture review checkpoints, quality gates, and lifecycle standards for automations (intake assessment design build test release monitoring), in alignment with the broader delivery governance model.
- Publish and maintain Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and reference designs to reduce ambiguity and prevent “snowflake” implementations.
---
- Workflow & ERP Integration
- Architect deep integration patterns between automation platforms and Odoo (BR Connect) to enable workflow-native automation.
- Define event-driven triggers and workflow patterns (e.g., status transitions, queues, webhooks, scheduled triggers) that scale across clients and departments.
- Ensure alignment between business process intent and technical implementation by translating process goals into system workflows, data contracts, and automation patterns.
- Standardize integration mechanisms between internal systems and external platforms (EMR/PMS, payer portals, clearinghouse interfaces), including data validation and error recovery patterns.
---
- Orchestration & Control Strategy
- Define reference orchestration approaches (UiPath Orchestrator / hybrid / custom control plane) and guardrails, aligned to operational constraints and platform direction.
- Establish workload distribution standards across execution environments (server pools, VM/terminal servers, cloud access constraints), including queue strategy and priority rules.
- Define capacity planning standards (robot concurrency, scheduling windows, SLA-based throughput) and partner with operations/engineering to implement scalable execution models as demand grows.
- Define the automation performance tracking and SLA monitoring framework (availability, success rate, throughput, MTTR)
and align reporting/escalation processes with operations and support teams.
- Provide architectural input to licensing and cost-scaling decisions (capacity triggers, utilization signals, ROI assumptions) to support delivery without creating bottlenecks.
---
- API & System Integration Governance
- Design and review RESTful integrations and integration contracts (schemas, idempotency, retry strategy, error codes, versioning).
- Promote an API-first integration strategy and reduce fragile UI automation where APIs or data interfaces are feasible.
- Architect secure authentication and authorization patterns (OAuth2, token handling, secrets rotation), including credential vault integration and least-privilege access.
- Ensure interoperability across EMR, ERP/workflow, automation platforms, and external systems with audit-ready traceability and controlled data flows.
---
- Python & Service Framework Oversight
- Provide architectural guidance for Python-based automation services (e.g., OCR/document processing, data transformation utilities, integration services), ensuring clear interfaces, operational readiness, maintainability, and measurable quality targets.
- Establish standards for logging, exception handling, monitoring, deployment, scaling, and secure configuration management for services.
- Ensure service-oriented design principles are followed (separation of concerns, clear APIs, versioning, resilience, testing strategy).
---
- AI-assisted Automation & Intelligent Workflows
- Define how AI-assisted automation can be introduced safely through concrete patterns (human-in-the-loop approvals, confidence thresholds, fallbacks, audit logs) and transparent integration boundaries between AI services and automation workflows.
- Establish reusable workflow primitives/components (classification, routing, triage, exception enrichment) that can be adopted consistently across use cases.
- Partner with the AI team to define governance patterns for AI-assisted automation (confidence thresholds, human-in-the-loop approvals, monitoring, prompt/version control where applicable).
- Enable adoption of AI-assisted automation enhancements aligned with measurable business outcomes (TAT, accuracy, denials reduction, productivity) in partnership with delivery and operations teams.
---
- Technical Leadership & Governance
- Facilitate architecture design reviews, technical decision forums, and cross-team alignment (RPA, BA, Internal Platform, IT/Infrastructure, Operations).
- Define and drive adoption of automation domain best practices and solution design standards (coding standards, review checklists, release readiness criteria) while keeping governance lightweight and enabling delivery speed.
- Mentor UiPath and Python teams through enablement (templates, reference implementations, review checklists, coaching).
- Collaborate with Infrastructure and Security teams to ensure environments meet compliance/security requirements (PHI/PII, access control, logging policies, retention).
- Partner with leadership to translate automation domain goals into phased reference architectures and adoption plans with measurable outcomes and risk management.
- Clarify role boundaries and build team autonomy: architect enables and governs—delivery teams execute.
---
Skills and Competencies
- Strong system-level thinking with ability to design scalable, modular, secure, and operable automation domain architectures.
- Deep understanding of automation platforms and integration patterns (queues, orchestration, event-driven workflows, APIs).
- Strong knowledge of UiPath (Studio, Orchestrator concepts, REFramework, best practices, exception handling, logging).
- Working knowledge of Python-based services and API integration patterns; able to review designs and guide engineering standards (hands-on development is a plus).
- Experience integrating ERP/workflow platforms (Odoo preferred) and designing workflow-driven automations.
- Strong understanding of REST API design, interoperability, and reliability patterns (idempotency, retries, versioning).
- Knowledge of orchestration strategies and distributed execution models (UiPath Orchestrator concepts preferred).
- Strong security mindset: secrets management, credential vault integration, least privilege, audit logging, compliance-aligned access controls.
- Excellent documentation and architectural modeling capability (reference architectures, ADRs, runbooks).
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to prioritize pragmatic solutions over over-engineering.
- Strong communication skills with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Ability to challenge legacy patterns constructively and drive adoption through enablement, not micromanagement.
---
Qualifications
- 7-10+ years of experience in automation architecture, system integration, platform engineering, or similar roles (or equivalent demonstrated capability).
- Minimum 3+ years hands-on experience in UiPath automation (architecture/design, governance, and best practices).
- Experience with Python and API-based integrations (ability to collaborate with service engineers, review designs, and ensure operability/security).
- Experience working with ERP/workflow platforms (Odoo preferred) and cross-system integration.
- Exposure to orchestration platforms and distributed system design (UiPath Orchestrator or equivalent concepts).
- Experience in healthcare/RCM domain is an advantage (PHI/PII handling, audit readiness, client IT coordination).
- UiPath certifications and/or Cloud/Integration certifications are preferred.
