Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced DBA to manage and support PostgreSQL and MySQL databases running on a Kubernetes platform. This is a hands-on role where the candidate will be responsible for the complete database ecosystem, including deployment, administration, performance tuning, monitoring, backup/recovery, high availability, and automation.

There are no managed database services, so the DBA will be expected to build and maintain all operational capabilities using primarily open-source tools.

Key Responsibilities

- Administer, monitor, and support PostgreSQL and MySQL databases in production/test and dev environments.
- Deploy and manage databases on Kubernetes environments.
- Design and implement database monitoring and alerting using tools such as:

- Prometheus

- Grafana

- PostgreSQL Exporter

- MySQL Exporter
- Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning.
- Implement backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies.




- Configure and maintain database replication and high availability solutions.
- Troubleshoot database, infrastructure, and application performance issues.
- Develop automation scripts and operational runbooks.
- Collaborate with application, DevOps, and platform teams to ensure database reliability and performance.
- Establish database best practices, standards, and documentation.

Required Skills

- Strong experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL administration.
- Hands-on experience managing databases on Kubernetes.

- Robust knowledge of

- Backup and recovery

- Replication and HA

- Performance tuning

- Database security
- Experience with Linux system administration.
- Experience implementing monitoring and observability platforms using Prometheus and Grafana.
- Scripting experience in Shell and/or Python.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
