Role Description The Data Protection Consultant is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru/Chennai/Mumbai. This role involves advising clients on data protection strategies, privacy compliance frameworks, and best practices for implementing Privacy Pillar’s solutions. The consultant will conduct privacy impact and risk assessments, review and draft privacy policies, and support clients in aligning with regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, DPDPA, and other applicable laws.
Day-to-day responsibilities include performing compliance gap analyses, designing and documenting data governance processes, delivering training and awareness sessions,
and collaborating with technical and legal teams to resolve complex privacy issues. The consultant will also monitor regulatory developments, provide ongoing guidance to clients, and contribute to continuous improvement of internal methodologies and tools.
Qualifications
Robust knowledge of data protection and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, DPDPA, global data privacy frameworks) and experience interpreting and applying them in business contexts.
Experience in data governance, risk assessment, and compliance audits, including conducting DPIAs, privacy risk analyses, and remediation planning.
Skills in drafting and reviewing privacy notices, policies, consent mechanisms, data processing agreements, and internal procedures related to data protection.
Ability to translate legal and regulatory requirements into practical, scalable processes and controls for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple client engagements.
Effective communication and presentation skills, with experience delivering training, workshops, or stakeholder briefings on privacy and data protection topics.
Comfort working on-site with cross-functional teams (e.g., legal, IT, security, product, operations) and building trusted relationships with clients.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Law, Information Security, Computer Science, Management, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, CIP
