Equity. India-based. The product first version is already built.
Company Description freedomwise is an early-stage venture focused on building solutions that empower individuals and organizations to make better decisions about their financial and personal freedom. The company aims to combine research-driven insights with user-friendly products and services that create measurable impact in educating with right information.
Its focus is educating un-suspecting individuals who are confused with flood of information across digital platforms by simplifying with a focus of building long term wealth. As a growing organization, freedomwise offers the chance to shape its culture, strategy, and market positioning from the ground up. Prospective team members will join a mission-driven environment that values curiosity, rigor, and practical innovation.
Role Description The Co-Founder / Founding CEO role at freedomwise is a part-time, remote position based in India. This role is responsible for setting the company go to market and overall vision, defining strategic priorities, and translating them into actionable plans across product, operations, sales, and marketing.
The Founding CEO will lead fundraising efforts, build and manage key partnerships, and oversee financial planning and performance. Day-to-day activities include working closely with early team members to validate market needs, refine the value proposition, and drive customer acquisition. The role also involves hiring and developing talent, representing the company in external forums, and ensuring that execution aligns with the company’s mission and long-term goals.
Why this is available.
I built it full time last 7 months but going forward, due to something that i am quite busy with, it will be an non-executive engagement I foresee for myself in this - my interest is in building things from scratch and i have few other things i want to get to after i have finished this work. I'm a software veteran and I'm now CTO of an AI incubation hub at a extremely reputed Institute. That means I can fund and maintain this indefinitely without outside money, but I cannot be its director or its face, and I won't be in day-to-day operations.
I'm looking for the person who runs it.
What you'd own.
Everything commercial. Distribution, content, community, brand, partnerships, RIA sales, the public voice of the company, and the strategy for all of it. You'd be Director and CEO with real authority, not a hire executing someone's plan. I stay on as majority shareholder and technical backstop, in maybe five hours a week.
The honest terms. Meaningful equity — 15–35% depending on what you bring, vesting over 4 years with a 1-year cliff. No salary at the start, or a small stipend. No external funding and none sought for now; infrastructure is covered from my income, so this survives indefinitely without traction pressure. That's the trade: no cash, but also no clock.
This is a 3–5 year game.
Who this is genuinely for. One of:
- You already have an audience in Indian personal finance — newsletter, YouTube, Reddit, X — and you're tired of monetizing it with affiliate links instead of a product you own.
- You're a SEBI-registered RIA or CFP with a practice, and you want software that multiplies your client load and eventually a company around it.
- You spent 5+ years in growth, product, or GTM at an Indian fintech and want the CEO seat rather than the next rung.
Who this isn't for. Anyone who needs a salary in the next 12 months.
Anyone who wants a title now and traction later. Anyone looking for an idea to work on — the idea and the product both exist; what's missing is distribution, and that is hard, unglamorous, and slow. Two things you should know before writing. We are lean and want to disrupt the way financial planning and low fee to capture the emerging middle class, which means paid acquisition is arithmetically impossible — this company can only be built organically, through content, SEO, community and referral.
And the mission is boring in the best way: helping a 34-year-old in Pune with a home loan work out whether he can stop working at 55.
To apply, send me three things. No CV needed:
1. What's your own financial freedom number, and how did you calculate it?
2. Given a target of < ₹2,000/year pricing, how would you get the first 10,000 real users? Be specific.
3. What distribution, audience, credential, or network do you already have that we'd have on day one?
