Role Overview :

The Cloud &

- Infrastructure Architect is a senior technical role for someone who is as comfortable designing target-state architecture as they are giving technical direction to fix the problem. This role blends architecture ownership with Site Reliability Engineering discipline: you will design, automate, and operate complex multi-cloud and datacenter environments, with automation, Infrastructure-as-Code, and AI-driven operations as the default way of working rather than an afterthought. Success is measured by the technical soundness of the architecture and by how reliably, and how automatically, it runs in production.

Key Responsibilities :

Architecture &

- Design :
- Design end-to-end infrastructure architectures spanning multi-cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), hybrid, and datacenter environments - compute, storage, networking, and workplace technology.
- Own reference architectures, design patterns, and technical standards, graded against a named framework (e.g., AWS/Azure Well-Architected pillars) rather than ad hoc judgment.
- Lead architecture decisions for major initiatives, personally evaluating trade-offs across scalability, resilience, security, and cost.
- Produce and maintain architecture documentation, design decision records, and technical roadmaps.

Multi-Cloud &

- Datacenter Networking :
- Architect hybrid and multi-cloud connectivity - AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute, Transit Gateway/VNet peering, and SD-WAN design.
- Design and operate datacenter fabric using software-defined networking platforms such as Cisco ACI, VMware NSX, Arista CloudVision, or Juniper Apstra - spine-leaf topology, VXLAN/EVPN overlays, and BGP routing.
- Architect service mesh (Istio or Linkerd) and load-balancing/application-delivery layers (F5 or cloud-native equivalents) for complex, multi-cluster workloads.

- Own the design of complex datacenter migration and consolidation scenarios, including bare-metal, virtualized, and containerized workload placement.

Automation, IaC &

- AI-Driven Operations :
- Author and review Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/OpenTofu as the default
- Bicep, CloudFormation, Ansible, or Pulumi where relevant) with proper module design, remote state management, and peer review - not just single-use scripts.
- Drive GitOps adoption (ArgoCD or Flux) and CI/CD pipeline design (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins) as the standard delivery path for infrastructure change.
- Build AI-augmented and self-healing operations - anomaly detection, event correlation, and LLM-assisted root-cause analysis - to cut alert noise and reduce MTTR.
- Apply automation-first thinking to eliminate operational toil, with a working target of keeping toil below roughly half of total operational effort.

Site Reliability &

- Resilience Engineering :
- Define and own SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets for critical infrastructure services, and use them to govern risk and change velocity.
- Lead major incident response and blameless post-incident reviews; drive systemic fixes that prevent recurrence, not just immediate remediation.
- Design and run disaster-recovery drills (blue/green, active/passive, multi-region failover) for critical infrastructure and validate recovery time/point objectives.
- Own capacity planning and load testing ahead of major traffic events, migrations, or platform changes.

Observability &

- Monitoring :
- Design observability architecture across metrics, logs, and traces using Prometheus/Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and one of Datadog, Splunk, or the Elastic (ELK) stack, depending on estate.
- Build dashboards and alerting that support SLO-driven operations, not just infrastructure-level thresholds.

Security &

- Resilience Architecture :
- Partner with the CISO/security team to architect a zero-trust-aligned security posture across cloud, datacenter, and network environments.
- Own secrets management and credential rotation architecture using HashiCorp Vault, CyberArk, or equivalent.
- Ensure architecture decisions meet regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, or industry-specific frameworks).

Required Qualifications :

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 12 years of experience in enterprise IT infrastructure, cloud architecture, or platform engineering.
- Minimum 7 years of experience designing enterprise cloud and hybrid infrastructure architectures.
- Proven experience architecting and operating large-scale multi-cloud environments across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Strong expertise in enterprise networking, software-defined data centers, virtualization, and cloud-native infrastructure.
- Deep understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code, automation frameworks, and DevOps/GitOps methodologies.
- Experience implementing Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices in enterprise environments.
- Robust knowledge of enterprise security architecture, Zero Trust principles, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Excellent stakeholder management, technical leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
