About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Solar Structures to strengthen our in-house engineering capabilities for Rooftop and Utility-Scale Ground-Mounted Solar EPC Projects.

The incumbent will be responsible for complete mechanical engineering of solar mounting systems, including structural optimization, module mounting system (MMS) engineering, wind load calculations, steel optimization, fabrication drawing review, value engineering, and technical support during project execution.

The role requires close coordination with Electrical Design, Business Development, Procurement, Project Execution, Planning, and Quality teams to deliver technically optimized and commercially competitive engineering solutions.

The position will serve as the organization's Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all mechanical aspects of solar structure engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Engineering & Structure Design

- Design and optimize Module Mounting Systems (MMS) for rooftop and utility-scale ground-mounted solar projects.
- Develop engineering solutions for fixed-tilt mounting systems and Solar Fixed Bare Module (SFBM) structures.
- Perform mechanical design calculations to ensure structural integrity and compliance with applicable engineering standards.
- Develop standardized mounting structure designs for various project categories.
- Prepare engineering calculations supporting mechanical design decisions.

Structural Optimization & Value Engineering

- Optimize steel quantities while maintaining structural safety and reliability.
- Develop cost-effective mounting structure solutions.
- Standardize structure configurations to improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Introduce innovative mechanical solutions for reducing project cost and installation time.
- Evaluate current products and mounting technologies available in the solar industry.

Wind Load & Mechanical Analysis

- Perform mechanical analysis considering:
- Wind Load
- Dead Load
- Live Load
- Thermal Expansion
- Structural Stability





- Review loading assumptions based on applicable IS Codes and customer specifications.
- Coordinate with external structural consultants wherever detailed civil or foundation analysis is required.

Mechanical BOQ & Cost Engineering

- Prepare Mechanical Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
- Estimate steel quantities and associated mechanical materials.
- Support Proposal and Business Development teams during bid preparation.
- Recommend optimized structure selection considering commercial viability.

Vendor Engineering & Technical Evaluation

- Review vendor drawings for mounting structures.
- Evaluate technical capability of structure manufacturers.
- Approve fabrication drawings prior to manufacturing.
- Participate in vendor technical discussions.
- Support Procurement team during vendor selection.

Design Support During Project Execution

- Provide engineering support during project execution.
- Resolve site engineering issues related to mounting structures.
- Review field modifications and engineering change requests.
- Coordinate with Project teams for engineering clarifications.
- Participate in site visits whenever required.

Design Standardization

- Develop standard engineering calculation sheets.
- Prepare standard mechanical design guidelines.
- Build design libraries for future projects.
- Develop standard BOMs for various mounting structures.

Educational Qualification

- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Mandatory)

Preferred:

- M.Tech in Mechanical/Design Engineering
- Certification in Steel Structure Design (Preferred)

Experience

- 8 to 12 years of experience in Solar EPC Design.
- Minimum 5 years in Mechanical Design of Solar Mounting Structures.
- Experience in both Rooftop and Ground Mounted Solar Projects.
- Hands-on experience in mechanical engineering of utility-scale solar projects.
